Seems a little hefty when the official investigation can only muster a "more likely than not" judgment based on the evidence. But whatever; I'm sure all the Pats-haters will love it.

If they are going to enforce at this level, the NFL needs a massive upgrade of its security procedures, plus videotape everywhere, total transparency, and - oh yeah - a sense of proportion on how penalties for offenses like drunk driving, domestic abuse, and political incorrectness should be related to actual football-related discipline (tampering, PEDs, spying, etc.).

I'm not a Pat fan at all but the penalty for tampering equipment is stated as 25K
In the vikings game when they doctored (heated the balls) the officials basically just told them to stop.

And no matter how guilty they look, they don't seem to have a smoking gun.
This is excessive in my book. But I'll enjoy it.

Besides the appeal will end up reducing it to 2 games. IMO
