Ok, refs, we get it. Gotta save Baylor.

    Goddamn. 48-46. Get the convert!

    Dammit. So close.

    • Well, Baylor's done. K-State won't matter anymore. TCU is at 4.

      • It was almost fantastic. Seminoles continue to stagger. There are record numbers to suicide preventions all over Mississippi. Alabama, so far, have all they can handle with Auburn. Baylor is shocked and awed. TCU is in a collective grin.

        • How would you have felt with twenty-one fourth quarter points, plus a score in OT to beat Baylor?

            • Oregon is the only top 4 team having an easy time of it today. Up 30-3 midway through the third. On to San Francisco!

                    • Sagarin ratings:

                      1. Alabama
                      2. Mississippi
                      3. TCU
                      4. Mississippi State
                      5. Oregon
                      6. Georgia
                      7. Auburn
                      8. Baylor
                      9. Oklahoma
                      10. KSU

Once again, 5 SEC teams, 4 Big 12 teams and Oregon.

Ohio State isn't even the highest ranked Big 10 team (ranked 13).

6-6 Arky jumps 12-0 Florida State, at 17.

                      • Now this has been a fun week. Great games.

                        1. Alabama
                        2. Oregon
                        3. Florida State
                        4. Baylor
                        4b. TCU
                        6. Ohio State
                        7. Kansas State
                        8. Arizona
                        9. Georgia Tech
                        10. Michigan State

Next 5 some ordering of Wisconsin, UCLA, Missouri, Mississippi State and Arizona State.

Given Barrett's injury, I have to think that Ohio State and therefore the B1G is likely out of the playoff picture unless any of the top 3 teams lose their conference championship games. So #4 would come down to the committee's decision on TCU v. Baylor, and that will likely come down to the Baylor/KSU game. The easiest decision path would be for Kansas State to pull the upset, thereby handing TCU the undisputed slot. But if the Bears thump the Cats... no idea what they'll do. TCU would have the better SoS, but Baylor would have the head-to-head... Of course, if Petty's concussion is serious, then Baylor is in trouble anyway.

                        Pac 12:

Oregon (11-1): Mariota put on a clinic in his last regular-season game for the Ducks (we must assume). He had 6 TDs total and basically told the Heisman committee to hand over the trophy before anyone else gets crushed.

Arizona (10-2): Clinched the Pac-12 South with a no-doubt satisfying win over their hated rival "Scum Devils." No they get a rematch against the Oregon team they previously beat, but which is a far, far better team than it was so many weeks ago. The title game should be pretty epic.

Arizona State (9-3): Got forked. Status as "Clemson West" is unchanged this season.
UCLA (9-3): If any team should be said to have a "Stanford Problem," it's the Bruins. They had the south title in their grasp only to have a rampaging Tree snatch it away in brutal fashion.

Stanford (7-5): Couldn't have ended such a disappointing season any better. Outside of ASU and Oregon, their losses were incredibly close.
USC (8-4): Trojans smash Irish. Brian Kelly mad. Sark wins eight. Kessler will be the best QB in the conference next year.
Utah (8-4): How lucky are the Utes that they didn't become the first Pac team to lose to Colorado this season? Very.

Washington (8-5): Blah blah pounded Wazzu for Apple Cup no one cares outside of the state of WA.

California (5-7): So close to a bowl game. Still, a 5-7 season after an 1-11 season has the be considered a huge improvement.
Oregon State (5-7): Not close to a bowl game, since it would have involved beating #2 Oregon. The Beavs got destroyed in the first half and the Ducks had mercy in the second.

Colorado (2-10): Almost upset Utah. Almost upset Cal. Almost upset UCLA. Almost not a bottom-feeder.
Washington State (3-9): Fitting end to a disastrous season. But at this point, we can just call those "Cougar Seasons."

                          • We're approaching Bloody Monday for CFB coaches. We've already had an early casualty: Nebraska fired Bo Pelini today. That's pretty harsh for a coach who hasn't had fewer than 9 wins in any of his seasons while having to get players to go to school in the state of Nebraska.

So the coaching bloodbath outlook for the major conferences:

                            Fired Already:
                            Will Muschamp - Florida
                            Bo Pelini - Nebraska
                            Charlie Weis - Kansas

                            Almost Certain to be Fired:
                            Brady Hoke - Michigan

                            Likely to be Fired:
                            Darrell Hazell - Purdue
                            Paul Rhoads - Iowa State

                            Could be in Trouble:
                            Frank Beamer - Virginia Tech
                            Mike Gundy - Oklahoma State
                            Kliff Kingsbury - Texas Tech
                            Mike Leach - Washington State
                            Mike MacIntyre - Colorado
                            Mark Stoops - Kentucky

                            Likely Safe for Now:
                            Sonny ****s - California
                            Kirk Ferentz - Iowa
                            Al Golden - Miami
                            Dana Holgorsen - West Virginia
                            Mike Riley - Oregon State*
                            Kevin Sumlin- Texas A&M

*Riley is only safe because the contract OSU gave him is ridiculous and his buyout would just be too damn high. They can't afford to fire him.

I'm absolutely terrified that Nebraska just pulled an Illinois, firing a good enough coach to chase delusions of grandeur. Nebraska at least has the excuse of having been great for decades, which makes the delusions of the fanbase easier to understand, but I still think there's a very high probability that this ends badly. Hopefully Eichorst goes for an up-and-coming coordinator (only way Nebraska is going to snag a top-level coaching talent) and gets lucky. Stealing Scott Frost from Oregon seems like one of the better options being bandied about right now, but I honestly don't know if he has the skills needed to be a great head coach.
