Wow, what did I start? If no one cares, why would they even post the stat? Yes, I do care but couldn't find the answer and figured those of you who are really into hockey might know the answer or where to look. As to if it's a record in the Finals, mine was more of a general question - i.e. was it a record in any game, Finals or otherwise? But, RAH is right, I would like to know the actual record. But maybe shots taken is one of those stats they just started keeping.

So, if there you have a definitive answer, share it. If you don't, no need to speculate or make a deal of it. But this has me :lol.

It's only been tracked fairly recently. It could be done, but you'd have to rewatch the footage of about 15-20 really long games to confirm.

Yep. No one back before a few years ago even cared to track the stat.

I could find out. I think the Canucks/Dallas game would have more, but you'd have to rewatch and track the shot attempts in about 15-20 games to confirm the actual record. Every playoff OT game that went into triple OT.

Is it likely that this game has the record? No, not with several other games having 10 more shots. Attempts/shots is usually around 50 percent, so the number of attempts you'd likely see around 250, 260 or so in a game with 130 shots.

There was a 7 OT game quite a while ago. I'd guess there were more shots in that game. I don't think it was a finals game.

The Oilers back in the glory days went 3 OT (?) against Boston in a final once. If the Oilers played they way they usually did that game would have had a huge shot total as well.

I've heard rumors that Alain Vingeault and John Tortorella are swapping teams. AV to NY Rangers... JT to Vancouver.

The presentation on NBC is almost unwatchable. Mike Emrick is the worst. Pierre Maguire is annoying as ****. Even if the Hawks win, this will be a hard series to watch.

Tough game to watch last night... They were out played in every aspect of the game.
And yes Sava... I also wish they could decline a penalty.
