I picked them also, but I don't feel that bad about it this morning.

I remember a game the Hawks lost during the regular season where the officiating was not up to par and a lot of calls went against them. It was a close game and when asked if it cost them the game afterwards I remember one of the Hawks saying, it's not the refs fault, it's our own fault for letting the other team stay in it for so long.

Hey Rah - did you know it was Kelly Sutherland who called both penalties? I suggest you look him up he has a long history with the Canucks. 19 of the last 20 games he's officiated he's called more penalties for the Canucks. He was there for the LA series and the Boston series.

At least both of those were fair. Differential was -4 and -5, respectively.

Here, it was -15. I'm not sure how far back you have to go to get to -15. For ANY Playoff series. It might never have happened before.

You can't say they didn't earn the win here yesterday night. They were up 3-2. Then San Jose dives when they know they are going to get the calls, and here we are.

Again, the refs don't call penalties based on differential... they call the penalties they see.
If one team is so stupid as to MAKE MORE PENALTIES, they are going to be on the minus side when it comes to penalties called.

Go ahead and blame the league... the officials... THE GRAND CONSPIRACY.

Maybe next time, the Canucks should score more goals and have less stupid plays that result in penalties.
Their players need to show a lot more discipline on the ice. They have only themselves to blame.

Sorry Ben, you can complain in a 7 game series if you want, but in a 4-0 sweep, it's more than penalties differentiating these two teams. The relative differential isn't surprising; a lot of that is VAN's style versus SJ's. VAN had over 20% more penalties in the regular season, because they play a hard-hitting style of hockey; SJ plays an athletic style of hockey (like CHI). Hence the PIM difference. SJ doesn't try to hit all the time, so they get a lot less penalties that are hitting-related. The big difference in penalties almost entirely comes from Cross-Checks (6 vs 0) and Roughing (7 vs 3). That's the risk VAN takes - they hit hard, and sometimes hit too hard. They are making up for a not very athletic team by playing that style, and it didn't work this time; move on.

Calgary lost in Game 7 of the SCF. But it arguably should've ended in Game 6. Here's where you can complain about reffing.

Isn't it illegal to kick it in anyway? Or is it okay if it's totally unintentional (ie, he didn't actually move his feet to contact the puck).
