No one outside of the West Coast has really ever given a damn about the Chargers. Even San Diego doesn't give a damn about the Chargers.

Chargers were 23rd in 2013. Bengals were 24th.

I don't think Tucker is the problem. He may not be the solution, but there's something to be said for continuity.

What they need on defense is better football players.

Regardless of whether or not they fire Tucker, isn't he implementing his own system over Lovie's next season? I figure if you are going to change anyway, blow it up.

They've won a championship more recently than the Eagles.

Chargers were 23rd in 2013. Bengals were 24th.

And the Chargers are one of the elite Eight this year.

They've been relevant since they beat the then 13-1 Colts Christmas of 2005. That's the first time I remember seeing them televised up in Canada. They've been a pretty darn good franchise over the last decade. Only one losing season.

I already ****ing said team performance has nothing to do with popularity. The Chargers have been average to good for many years now. They're still consistently in the mid-20's /32 in popularity year after year.

They play in a small and not particularly football-centric market filled with transplants. They are on the West Coast and no one cares about West Coast teams in general. They have nothing to set them apart in terms of marketing.

The Bengals have made the playoffs 3 straight years but they're about as popular as the Chargers. They play in Ohio. No one cares. Same ****.


I guarantee you the ratings for the Chargers-Bengals game will be the lowest of all the playoff games even though Sunday afternoon is an ideal time-slot.

Rivers threw only 16 pass attempts for 128yds. He ****ing sucks. How did they possibly win? Dalton threw 51 times for 334! He was the better QB! Throw more = Better QB = Win games. Duh.

No bet. Cincy had trouble selling out. Chargers/Denver, Indy/Pats will be excellent games. NFL has to be happy about how all the games have gone so far. If the Niners win, it'll be Seattle/Saints, Niners/Carolina. Those aren't bad games, but they are nothing like the massive AFC games. Both games have a long, long history behind them.

Mostly for RAH: Interesting clarification on the Cutler contract...

The Bears can cut Jay Cutler three seasons into his new seven-year deal with no cap hit.
Everyone that freaked out over the length of Cutler's deal can breathe now. He got no signing bonus, only guaranteed base salaries of $22.5M in 2014, $15.5M in 2015 and $16M in 2016 for a total of $54 million guaranteed. If the Bears want to move on in 2017 when Cutler turns 34 years old, they'll be able to do so with no strings attached.

Making that bet has nothing to do with you, Ben.

It's something I do whenever there's a very important (usually knockout) game a team I support is playing. I find that it takes the edge off my disappointment if they lose and it's 'worth' the money spent if they win...

Nobody I know understands why I could possibly bet against my team, but it works for me...

I get this. You're hedging. Win or lose, you can't walk away completely disappointed.
