They aren't completely useless. They occupied a seed that could have gone towards the Steelers, allowing Indianapolis to reach the divisional finals.

From seven point dogs to 17 point victors. I can see that. They ran an extremely conservative playbook in Cincy. Rivers didn't do too badly on 14 throws. Got a TD, and kept it clean with no turnovers.

Sure, he's not won a superbowl yet like Roethlisberger or Eli, but he's topped 30k yards. With a decent season, he'll pass Aikman, Young and Kelly and has a shot at reaching the top 20 in yards depending on whether he passes Carson Palmer next year.
