To be fair, judging the entire SEC by the performance of Ole Miss and South Carolina is about as fair as judging the entire Big Ten by the performance of Michigan and Purdue.

Just more evidence that preseason polls are crap. Neither South Carolina nor Nebraska deserve to be ranked that high.

South Carolina's been the beneficiary of the Spurrier preseason effect. Everybody's excited at the thought that Spurrier's brought them to a new level, and is overlooking the fact that they remain South Carolina, and last year is pretty much the most they aspire to. In other news, Les Miles remains the only coach who can make the pregame run out interesting.
