  • I also think it's hilarious you think Kipper had a fluke "series run".

He set the NHL record for GAA, no one has come even close since.

Yet Kipper has superior stats to all of them in the postseason. I love how your cherrypick random ****, never consistently.

Kipper got more shutouts in one playoff run than Bobby Lou has gotten in his career in the post-season, FWIW.

True, that's another stat that Bobby Lou is lacking. He needs to start racking up the playoff shutouts.

          Wings again! 2-1 Wings! Awesome.

That's because Kiprusoff won 1-0 playoff games, and Bobby Lou tends to let in that soft goal near the end. It's a trait big game goaltenders have. It's a trait $10M goaltenders should have. Unfortunately, a high salary does not a big game goaltender make.

              • Wings win. Onto game 7 in the shark tank. Still an uphill climb for the Wings, but they have to like their chances. I'll get points now for all 4 games.

                Go Wings!

                  Okay.

So Kiprusoff had 5 shutouts in 26 games.

Luongo has 3 shutouts in 47 games.

So now how do you spin it?

                        • Oh and the Sharks had good news-- bad news in game 6. The good news was that Niemi showed up massively-- many of those stops were freaking amazing.

The bad news was that they wasted one of the better playoff performances you are likely to see as the remainder of their team didn't show up. Other bad news was that Marleau failed to show up AGAIN and one of their gutsy players- Clowe-- is hurt

SJ could still pull this out but like Vancouver in the first series, the concern is that up 3-0 you let it get to a game 7.

I didn't see anyone citing any of the others as an all time great and I clearly showed Niemis numbers were the worst of the remaining goalies (he's up to .901 now btw and that is dragged down a lot by two completely crappy performances in round 1-- In this series he has been better than .955 in three of six games and .900 or above in 5 of 6)

But I thought your argument was that Luongo is among the all time greats and our counter was a lack of performance at key times-- playoffs in general and key games like clinchers in particular. You cannot deny

                            1. that his stats are worse in the playoffs than the regular season this year
                            2. that he has had a number of goals scored that commentators view as soft
                            3. that he has given up a number of leads late 8 did you not cite how the Canucks had trailed for 11 minutes or some such-- that means they are losing games late does it not?

                            • I'd take Roloson, Thomas, Niemi, and Howard (not in that order) before Luongo in a game seven situation, without a second thought.

Crazy stat from last night: Howard is now 5-1 in games when facing elimination.

Thats my problem with seeing Luongo as an all-time great-- If I had a game 7 and could pick fromm any goalie in the league, I would have several before Luongo-- to me, to be an all time great there should be some time in your career where you are clearly THE guy-- Despite Luongos lengthy service with good numbers I can't point to any time where he was clearly THE #1 guy in the NHL
