Umm... Eli won his Super Bowl in glorious fashion.... what do you mean you can merely get to a Super Bowl with Eli Manning? Eli Manning is also one of the best QB's in the NFL and is criminally underrated. He's had two straight 4000 yard seasons and now has a 30+ TD season under his belt.

Yes, Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers, and Roethlisberger are better than Eli, but who else is? Vick? Maybe but let's see Vick have a whole season of high performance first. Romo might be statistically better but he doesn't win games when it matters and Romo is absolutely loaded with talent on the offense. Anyone else? Not really.

London Fletcher's continued productivity at age 35 (turns 36 in May) as a MLB is astonishing. He started in the NFL as an undrafted free agent (mostly because he's only 5ft-10).

Are you seriously comparing Eli to Dilfer and Grossman? Hasselbeck is a good quarterback, but he's not on Eli's level.

Eli is no worse than the 10th best QB in the league by anyone's definition. I'd put him above Vick and Romo so... 7th best QB behind Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, and Roethlisberger in a very QB-talented era.

I don't see Eli as any better than the average QB in the NFL. Replacement level to me.

Testaverde has thrown for more yards than Eli ever has, and that is in the most favourable era for passing ever.

Among his contemporaries, ie, people within 2 years of his age:

Brees, Rivers, Roethisburger, Rodgers, Schaub, Palmer, Cutler, Orton. are all better QBs. So he's the 9th best QB in his 'era'. I don't consider that impressive at all.

On my draft chart, not including Favre and McNabb who were also in his era I have the following rated ahead of Eli:

Peyton, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers, Brady, Schaub. First Tier.

Flacco, Bradford, Palmer, Roethlisburger, Ryan, Sanchez, Henne, Garrard [[Romo]]. Second Tier.

Orton, Eli, Freeman, Cutler, Hasslebeck, Kitna, Hill, Smith, Cassell, Vick. Third Tier.

If I know that Romo is out and Kitna is starting, Kitna moves up to second tier.

Eli hits all my negatives.

5th in Yardage. 4th in TDs, 9th in Completion percentage, 1st in Interceptions, Dead last in interception percentage, 9th in y/att, 14th in y/c, 17th in QB rating.

He throws lots, but not as much as Orton or Cutler, and throws more interceptions. What's the upside with Eli?

You know I'm not a big fan of either Orton or Cutler, but Cutler has 4500 yards, which is 500 more than Eli's best year.
