    ACK!
I'd disagree. Stanford > Virginia Tech. Oregon State and ASU are pretty comparable, while the remaining teams for each are cupcake ones. Oregon has also played more games.

Look, I don't think there's actually much space between #2, #3, and #4 right now. Alabama is, IMO, clearly #1, while Ohio State, Oregon and Boise State are pretty much in a very close race for 2nd place. Anyone can make a case for any order for those three teams, so arguing about it is pretty much a pointless exercise at the moment.

They will fall. Nebraska may still drop to 12 if the Wolfpack and Wildcats win. My rankings aren't intended to predict where teams will be at the end of the year. I'm not going to drop Kansas St out though they will stay at least at 25.

          • Haven't been following the season much this year.

Michigan v. Sparty should be a good game. You would certainly expect Sparty to implode at this point in the season, like they always do. But this year might be different.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

QFT. Nebraska is overrated and sure to falter before the season is over.

Again, you completely miss the point, which is that the game shows just how absurd your rankings are. Neither major poll had Kansas State ranked, because the voters have the good sense to know that even though they were 4-0, they were nowhere near the caliber of a top team... because schedules matter. Not only did you rank them, you ranked them ahead of Nebraska. Your rankings are simplistic, arbitrary, and do not take into account relative schedules of the teams. Do you even understand the concept behind national rankings?

All of the undefeated teams are ranked on my scale, the same cannot be said of the arbitrary rankings according to the AP polls.

Yes, my rankings are simple. Win, and you move up. Lose and you fall. Is it fair that 5-0 Northwestern isn't even on the poll? No.

Two simple principles govern the rankings.

1, you can only beat the teams in front of you.

2, you can only lose to the teams in front of you.

I don't give a tinker's damn about 'good losses'. You lose to Bama? That tells me one thing. Bama is a better team than you. That's it. Bama is going to be rated above you until you manage to beat Bama, or Bama loses more games than you to other teams.

                  I don't believe in transitivity.

I don't believe in the 'inherent' strength of the BCS teams. If they lose, they are going to lose. If they want to ***** and moan about how they are getting punished for having the harder schedule, then why do they tell the other teams that they can't play in their conference? It's complete and unmitigated bull****.

Call me when they remove the division II teams from their schedule, and replace them with out of conference teams. Then I'll taking their *****ing into consideration. Play Boise. Play Utah. Play all the good teams that never get a shot against the best of the best.

The worst thing that happens is that you lose, and guess what? It means that your undefeated season really wasn't undefeated because you were too chicken**** to play the best.

Neither major poll had Kansas State ranked, because the voters have the good sense to know that even though they were 4-0, they were nowhere near the caliber of a top team... because schedules matter.
Which you called when I had them ranked last week? Or the poll before? Or the Poll before that? Oh wait, no you didn't. Nary a peep until after the fact.

Not only did you rank them, you ranked them ahead of Nebraska. Your rankings are simplistic, arbitrary, and do not take into account relative schedules of the teams. Do you even understand the concept behind national rankings?
I rank em where I think they ought to be after their performance last week. Am I objective? Hell no. I don't like the Huskers. But I had them ranked as 11. It's not like I have Northwestern unranked. You think my rankings are ****? Put money down against them.

                  • Second, how the hell is Oregon State representative of the entire PAC-10? They are a middling PAC-10 team, although it looks like Katz is starting to come into his own and they are likely improving as the season goes on, as they usually do. Touting early victories over them and claiming that means the PAC-10 has a whole is weak is as stupid as using Ole Miss as proof the SEC is weak this year.
If the Ducks scheduled BSU they would be the representative of the PAC-10 vs MWC. Simple as that. Same way VT represents the ACC. Right now I have them ranked SEC, Mountain West, Ducks, Big 12, Pac 10, Big 10, Temple, ACC, Penn St, Texas, Ole Miss, Big East.

I don't understand what that means. How are you ranking schools and conferences like that?

Unfortunately, Temple lost to Northern Illinois today. It was tied at the half despite bad play from Temple but NIU pulled away in the second half.

There are two problems with Temple right now... one, I don't know why but last year's Heismann hopeful, Pierce, (don't laugh. Little do you all know that a Temple RB, Paul Palmer, was #2 to Testaverde in Heismann voting in 1986 and there was a serious campaign for Pierce) isn't playing much at RB this year and the very diminutive Matt Brown is and as much as I hate to admit it because Pierce is an ******* (remember that chick I told yall about who only dates Black athletes? yeah. She wasn't interested in me to date him and they lasted about a week and a half leaving her crying and ****), Pierce is way better than Brown (hell, Brown is a bit of a douche as well so whatever... I was working out with another chick and he was around and she turn all girly and flirtatious around Brown then I say what, you messing with him? And she says, No, I'm just his victim. WTF? I guess he slayed that or something).

Anyway, the other problem is Chester Stewart is a terrible quarterback. Since DiMichelle and Charlton and now with Stewart, Temple's QB's have been incredibly mediocre. Stewart WAY overthrew a wide open receiver in the endzone at the start of the 4th quarter. The problem with being a run-first team like Temple with a crappy QB is that they get down and they can't get up. This is a team that needs to play strong right away in the first quarter and build a lead.

And as for Pierce, I have to grudgingly admit his talent... even ESPN knew the deal last year:

                        • Not going as far as to predict the upset, but the situation seems stacked against Alabama this week. #1 teams playing ranked teams on the road the week after beating a top 10 team at home are 1-5 historically, the lone win being Notre Dame squeaking by Michigan State 20-19 in 1990 (which is interesting, but really has **** all to do with an individual game in 2010). Throw in that South Carolina has had two weeks to prepare, and they may give the Tide some fits.

                            • I believe Paul Palmer was the last Temple product to be drafted in the 1st round.

He was also the often forgotten Dallas RB between Herschel Walker and Emmitt Smith.
