Flames fans hate the Canucks because the team has always been full of douchebags (from Cooke to Burrows and Kesler), their fans are douches (you, laser-pointer-to-the-eye-of-Kipper guy, etc), and the city is remarkably pompous for a city that's never won a ****ing thing, ever.

Hey, at least we didn't have to cheat our way to the cup, like Calgary did with Joel Otto. Would have been great to win in '94 after we beat you in double OT in game 7, but them's the breaks.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

They are 2-2-1. SOs are meaningless in the POs. This last game will be for all the money in the season series.Yes, 3-1. Point is Calgary has 3 W out of 5 GP.

You were very, very wrong. Again.

You're still squirming by arguing some ****ing thing about the playoffs (HINT: WE ARE NOT IN THE PLAYOFFS). You are so ****ing pathetic it's not even funny."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Yes, it turns out the Canucks are still losers, having never won the cup...ever. It's not so much a break but a sign of a franchise that always chokes.Would have been great to win in '94 after we beat you in double OT in game 7, but them's the breaks."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Hmm? Full credit for the OT win in game 7 that took you all the way to the cup. I was so disappointed after they scored and then came back to see them lose in OT.It's amazing you can be a sore loser even after all these years.

However, Joel Otto kicking in the **** goal was total bull****.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Fun clips each -- Some of that stuff really triggered 'where was I' memories

Oh and loving recalling that it was Iggy that was the Canuck killer in 04

Tonight?? I expected the Flames to let down a bit after 4 wins-- I have not trusted them to be consistent all season. The canucks mounted an impressive attack in the first-- The flames can take some solace from their play in the last 40 minutes but in the end, it was a loss .

Now they are in the same boat as last time-- needing to beat Detroit to catch detroit-- I am attending and expect a doozyYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Earlier tonight I was watching the Youtube of Don Cherry on Matt Cooke (it's entertaining and well worth watching.....or linking, for those of you that can ), and it got me thinking of the discussion earlier about Alex Burrows and other players who are disliked (by fans and opponents of opposition teams, and often I suspect by their teammates, though the teammates may not admit it!). ), and it got me thinking of the discussion earlier about Alex Burrows and other players who are disliked (by fans and opponents of opposition teams, and often I suspect by their teammates, though the teammates may not admit it!).

But who are the most "hated" players in the NHL? You know who I mean, the players who's primary role is drawing penalties and being general all around jerks on the ice.

I have my short list of Sean Avery, Alex Burrows and Matt Cooke. I know Asher will mention Kesler, but what I have seen of Kesler is a player I would like to have on my team (even though he is American) and not someone I would think of a universaly disliked around the league.

Who else? (I would prefer to hear about current players only, as while I am sure we all have opinions about players like Claude Lemieux and Dale Hunter....the list should be long enough without needing to list former players too).

I don't think Kesler is hated around the league, I just think he's a douchebag. He is.

He's not on the same level as Burrows and Cooke in terms of lacking respect for other players, but he's pretty close. I hated him long before his "hate Canada" comments... and it's not because he's some dynamite player (though he is very good). It's just the little things in his game, the extra whining he always does to the refs (a recurring theme on the Canucks which help make them insufferable), the odd dirty play, the douchebag comments after the game ('hate' Canada, thought the situation of the fan shining laser pointers in Kipper's eyes was funny and praised them, etc)."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Umm, Burrows is one of the most respected players. Sure Oilers and Flamers hate him, but those are Oilers and Flamers.

You hate him like I hate Iggy. No difference. I personally think Iggy is a douche and he gets away with stuff other players don't and that he's a massively overrated Mike Gartner.I hated him long before his "hate Canada"

This is no different. Kesler does many things well and I'd say he's the heart and soul of the Canucks.

And I love this whining over the laser pointers. Talk about sore winners... You won the Shootout, let it go.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I looked for your citation of a source of this information but didn't see one. I look forward to seeing where this "respect" is coming from however, I suspect it may be from a Canuck website as I can't see anyone else respecting him.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostUmm, Burrows is one of the most respected players. Some of us don't rely on "Coaches Corner". Just because Ron Maclean says it doesn't make it so.I looked for your citation of a source of this information but didn't see one. Look, Burrows pulled himself up as an undrafted player. I don't care who you are, he deserves props for how far he's come. This is why I respect him, because I see the effort he puts out there every night. I could care less what Ron thinks about them, Ron is just sore because the Canucks are the best Canadian team.

I'd wager if he donned a Flames jersey that he'd instantly become Asher's favourite player. Likewise yours if he wore an Oilers jersey.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

For what it's worth, I respect the opinions of both Don Cherry and Ron Maclean, and think they disagree on a lot of issues so it's not like I pick one side here. But Maclean and Cherry aside, I am curious as to the larger picture, the general consensous.

My point was you said Burrows is "one of the most respected", which implies you mean around the league, not just by you. Are you now saying that he is one of the most respected by you, or are you saying he is respected around the league? Because if it is the latter, I would like to see a non-Canuck website source for that tidbit of information.

I will take the Oilers side of that betOriginally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostI'd wager if he donned a Flames jersey that he'd instantly become Asher's favourite player. Likewise yours if he wore an Oilers jersey. and for clarification, it doesn't matter how many games he misses, 3 or more, 3 or less. Actually if he ever wears an Oiler jersey I suspect I will be happier the more games he misses. and for clarification, it doesn't matter how many games he misses, 3 or more, 3 or less. (given the Oiler's recent history of picking up the trash that Vancouver and the rest of the league doesn't want, the possibility of Edmonton acquiring him is not such a far stretch of the imagination)
