Darren Dreger says the Flames/Ranger trade is still "very much alive". Probably going to happen as soon as the Flames finish their game tonight.

Flames with a stinker.
Trade imminent.

Iggy is the problem. Not sure why the man is on the Olympic team.
Code:Dany Heatley Sidney Crosby Martin St. Louis Alexandre Burrows Joe Thornton Rick Nash Brad Richards Patrick Marleau Corey Perry Patrick Sharp Vincent Lecavalier Ryan Getzlaf
Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Shoo, Ben.
Burrows on the Olympic team over Iggy. Jesus ****ing christ. He has less points than Iggy and he's playing with the ****ing Sedins, who are sensational this year.

Burrows is the second best leftwinger. He deserves to be on the team. Iggy, not so much.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Since the Ollie deal
didn't change the absolute numbers of forwards did he say this about the Ollie deal or before it?
I do wonder if there is space on this team now for a Craig Conroy or what happens when Dawes or Moss come back (I don't recall how long they will be out)You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

The main problem is wingers specifically. Now the Flames have way too viable NHL wingers in the club, mostly 3rd/4th line quality:
Kotalik
Higgins
Dawes
Glencross
Hagman
Nystrom
Bourque
Iginla
Mayers
McGrattan
Moss
There's also centres who have played on the wing recently, like Lundmark and Boyd
Centres:
Lundmark
Boyd
Langkow
Stajan
Conroy
Jaffray
Backlund* (won't be traded)
Boyd
Simply too many bodies. In my mind I keep going back to Atlanta's demand for 4 young roster players for Kovalchuk.Last edited by Asher; February 2, 2010, 10:42."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Boyd-Stajan-Iggy
Bourque-Langkow- Glencross (Dawes injured)
Hagman- Higgins-Lundemark (Moss injured)
Kotalik- Nystrom -Mcgratton- Mayers (Conroy injured)
Jaffray-Backlund
Barring other trades one has to figure that Dawes gets back with Bourque and langkow.
Since Kotalik doesn't fit as a 4th liner and I have to figure thay may give Backlund some more chances, they could trade as many as 3 forwards from the top 9 and still have reasonable depth if they got a forward in return. At tsn some folks are bouncing around ideas that the trades are to clear cap space for the summer and FA signings. That would make sense for the Phaneuf deal but the Jokie deal means the Flames currently have less cap room this summer (Kotalik !! ???)
It simply makes no sense at all to me that a player like Kotalik is the guy on the longest contract of all the folks acquired. He seems to be the exact opposite of what Sutter would like in a playerLast edited by Flubber; February 2, 2010, 14:58.You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

IMO Sutter should trade Iginla, Bourque, Langkow, and Bouwmeester for Alexandre Burrows.
