Gee... for many schools, basketball is a big money maker. Especially for those schools that can't afford to play football at the highest level, but can in basketball.

Ming, yes, I think I pointed out that basketball makes money in some places. However, if you take the averages, football is THE money maker in college sports. If you look at conferences as a whole, the ACC is probably the only conference in which basketball, or any other sport, eclipses football, conference-wide, in terms of revenue. And honestly, I'm not even sure that's true, it's just the only conference where that could be possible.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

The Big East probably falls into the same category.
But who cares, anyway?I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I rather enjoyed the Arizona-USC beatdown, as well as OSU's loss to ****ty USC. Additionally, watching LSU struggle repeatedly was highly satisfying, as was the constant struggle of Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
But my 100% favorite moment of the season???

After further review, Fiesta matchup is good for Boise State
Hated it. That was my first reaction to pairing Boise State and TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. Hated making two non-BCS-conference teams square off. Hated that neither program would get a chance to knock off one of the BCS big boys, like Florida.
Hated it. No questions asked.
Sure looked like the Fiesta Bowl had relegated itself to second-tier status in television and attendance terms, taking one for the rest of the BCS bowls by choosing both non-BCS members. Sort of a "we'll-show-those-upstarts" collusion moment.
"I'm attempting to be a gentleman, but that's the biggest load of crap I've heard in my life," Fiesta Bowl CEO John Junker said Sunday, dismissing the suggestion.
"We don't do the bidding of somebody else to our detriment."
Now, upon further review, I think the game is a huge win for Boise State. First, it's the easiest travel destination for Bronco Nation, which has already bought a quarter of the Broncos' 19,000-ticket allotment.
Second, the Broncos have tons to gain with a win. Back in their role as underdogs, the Broncos will gain far more respect if they defeat No. 3 TCU than they would by beating No. 10 Iowa. The biggest thing to be gained in BCS bowls by non-BCS teams is respect. That will not be an issue against these vaunted Horned Frogs.
Some, including TCU coach Gary Patterson, believe the Horned Frogs should be playing for the national championship. National respect for the Horned Frogs is at an all-time high. A victory could catapult the Broncos to No. 2 in the nation - and a possible top 5 preseason ranking entering next season.
"Our goal is to play the best possible opponent we possibly can in the postseason," Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier said. "That's what's happening again this year."
I still hate the assignment for TCU, though. The Horned Frogs would have been better served by playing No. 5 Florida, which is both higher ranked and more respected than Boise State.
The biggest question was why would the Fiesta Bowl go for it? Most figured they'd take the safe bet and select Iowa for ticket sales and Midwestern appeal.
Instead, the BCS game with maverick instincts opted for two college football outsiders, selecting TCU over Cincinnati (fan travel issues) and Iowa (lower ranking).
When it came time to pick again, the bowl chose Boise State over Cincinnati and lower-ranked at-large possibilities Virginia Tech and BYU.
In a line you'll hear repeated often in the next month, this is the first time undefeated teams have met in a BCS game other than the national title game.
"To us, this is an incredible, incredible attraction," Junker said.
They've taken a big gamble, pinning their hopes that a national television audience will want to watch the nation's No. 1 scoring offense (Boise State) and the No. 1 total defense (TCU).
I've got to hand it to the Fiesta Bowl. They treated the Horned Frogs and Broncos just like any other team, opting to put together the best matchup and ignoring the programs' small alumni bases and newcomer status.
In other words, they treated them as equals, which is all the non-BCS teams and their fans ever wanted.

When are you going to quit pissing all over your boots about Boise and TCU?

I've posted 2 quotes from Patterson, where's he's telling his team to play for the AP poll, which doesn't have anything to do with BCS wishes.
David is posting from a Texas point of view. In Texas, football is king and there is no 2nd place.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
