Bull****. Everytime you complain about a weak schedule you never look in the mirror. If you really cared about playing strong competition and not pansies, your #1 in Week 4 would be Miami (if they win again), but I bet you'll put Texas, like you always do.

Oh, and if you want to ask me in your next post if I'm calling you a liar; save it, because I am calling you a liar.

      • Unless each conference just plays and end its it at that, there has to be a poll and/or playoffs and/or BCS bull****.

You can't sit there and condemn everything. I guess you can, but offer up an alternative.

Read the damned thread, Imran. Quit being a dip****.

          • The alternative is not caring so much who is the better team...

Also, any chance you two grow up and stop calling each other names any time soon? How about I take care of both of you at once. Texas should schedule Rutgers next year. That'd make you both mad

I'm way ahead of you here Imran. UW and USC are playing against the same competition here on out. You're saying a loss to LSU and a win over USC is worse than a loss to UW and a win against OSU without considering the strengths of OSU and LSU.

Is a 10-2 LSU team better than a 10-2 OSU team?

I'd rather abandon the rankings entirely except for pride, get rid of all the money, and just go back to a few simple bowl games with trivial prizes. The collegiate system isn't meant for this, and the fact that it's turned into this ruins both the sport AND the collegiate experience.
The problem mainly started when people decided they wanted a "true" national champion, instead of acknowledging that the national champion will always be subjective, as a result of only having 12 or so games a season for over 100 teams. You really can't get a decent reading of relative strength, especially among teams of different conferences from that... and ESPECIALLY if you subscribe to the theory of "Any Given Saturday".

Washington lost at home by 8. USC won by 3 on the road in one of the toughest stadiums in the country.

Any given Saturday Pete Carrol loses to an inferior team 1 out of 10 times during the season. Any given Saturday Jim Tressel loses to a superior team 2 out of 11 times a season. These things aren't so random.

Based on the talent levels on either team and, as Drake has continually pointed out, the injury to the USC starting QB during the UW game in addition to how USC played when Barkley was healthy, as well as how I expect the season to play out, USC is a better tearm.

Depends on how each team wins its games and how good their competition is. Basically, come back when they are both 10-2 and I'll tell you.

Against a constantly middling OSU teams that only get's 10 victories a season because their conference is weak. You're either giving OSU too much credit or LSU not enough.

I expect UW to lose more games (and USC too), but we're tackling the hypothetical where UW and USC win out the rest of the season and people are saying USC should be ranked ahead of UW based on a win against OSU that should finish 10-2 and an LSU that could finish with 1-3 losses against top 5 teams.

Basically it depends on how each does in their games. If UW barely beats the rest of the Pac-10 and USC blows out every team by, at least, 30 points, I don't see any reason why USC shouldn't be ranked higher. Simply because of on one Any Given Saturday they lost to UW? What about the season as a whole, or does college football not care about such things anymore?

The only difference in the season is the HTH and the OOC record. LSU is top 10 if not top 5. OSU is top 15. Otherwise their future games are very similar with only home field being the biggest differential factor.

I will throw the OSU National Championship season out as one where they barely beat all of their opponents yet somehow won every single game even when they weren't favored. Are you saying Miami should have been national champion because the OSU win was a fluke?
