The price was high; the die is cast. I must say I'm surprised. Pulling the trigger on this is really out of character for Angelo.

Let's get some blockers and receivers and see what happens.

Also: The Bears now lead the league in rostered Vandy players with 4.

You'll need to build an O-Line.

That was the one strength of Denver, they had one of the best O-Lines in the league.

Two firsts, and a third, plus Orton (a fourth) for Cutler and a 5th? Great deal for Denver. The good thing is that it makes us the division winners this year, but sets Denver up to do well in a couple years. Amazing deal.

I think KC, and possibly still Denver depending on what else transpires, will compete with you for that division crown, though this certainly sets them back a bit.

But yes, O-line is something we may need to work on ... I hear that Pace fella is still on the market

Well you'd better snap at it. Baby Jay doesn't like getting his hair mussed.

God, I'm so happy I don't have to see Cutler twice a year anymore.

In "Is Jay Cutler the Reincarnation of Jeff George?," a January 30 blog, I noted a quote that appeared deep in a Denver Post interview with former Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer. "He's a great quarterback, don't get me wrong," Plummer said about Cutler. "I'm not saying anything to disrespect him...

All Bears fans should read this article so they know what to expect.

Holy ****, they really did it ...

The rich get richer: Chicago agrees with Pace, too

                So much for fine-tuning.

On the day Chicago traded for Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler, the Bears also agreed to terms with seven-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Orlando Pace. It's expected that Pace will take over at left tackle and shift second-year player Chris Williams to the right side, but we should get more details on that from general manager Jerry Angelo later Thursday.

Pace has missed 25 games over the past three seasons, and St. Louis released him earlier this month. The Bears signed free agent Kevin Shaffer last week, presumably to play right tackle, but at the very least Pace gives the Bears significantly more flexibility and depth at a position they targeted for upgrade this offseason.

As of this minute, here's what the Bears' starting offensive line might look like on the first day of training camp, with an asterisk (*) next to their three new starters:

                LT: Orlando Pace*
                LG: Frank Omiyale*
                C: Olin Kreutz
                RG: Roberto Garza
                RT: Chris Williams*

Thursday's high-profile moves have certainly shaken up the NFC North. You've got to wonder what Minnesota and Green Bay, which have largely stood pat this offseason, are thinking right now. The Bears haven't done anything substantive to improve their defensive personnel, but maybe their offense can carry them to a division title in 2009.

Even if he doesn't play a down, that's a good move in my book. Mentoring Chris Williams will be a huge benefit to the team.

Great, so who is this Cutler fellow gonna throw to?

I have a feeling we're gonna regret this later. I actually liked Orton. If the damn lines (O and D) held more frequently, he'd have had much better ratings.

We could've grabbed Pace and gone for the WR in the 1st round and been set for offense.

One hopes that Cutler's desire to play for the Bears translates into something good. If he is a whiner here the team won't stand for it.

I really thought all of the TALK about getting Cutler was hot air. I was wrong.

Him and Pace on the same day... YEAH BABY!
                          Now let's find a receiver.

                              So is Marvin Harrison

Bears also still have their second, a compensatory third and fourth round pick. Any of those can be used to target WRs with candidates being Hakeem Nicks (2), Johnny Knox (3) and Ramses Barden (4).

I'm leaning towards the fourth rounder since they can use the second rounder on DT Fili Moala or Ss Louis Delmas and Patrick Chung and the third rounder on CB Coye Francies to fill other needs.
