  • With no WR or RB having a breakout season, it does seem clear that the MVP will go to a QB. Rivers, Warner and Brees seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse, but performances over the next month or so will tell tell the tale.

      • Cold's got a point. I personally would rather give it to a guy like Portis who's an essential part of a renaissance for his team (Washington was widely expected - i.e. by everyone else other than me - to be the weak link in the NFC East this year, and it's right in the thick of things) rather than a QB that's running up the stat sheet but isn't making a difference in his team's success. I could understand Warner, but Brees & Rivers don't merit selection - no matter how gaudy their stats - just because their teams aren't winning.

        • I said "breakout season."

Portis is having the best RB season in the league thus far, but I wouldn't really call it MVP caliber. He'll be fortunate to approach 2000 yards on the ground, has only 18 receptions, and he's one of 7 RBs with 42 or more points scored -- 3 TDs behind LenDale White.

Chambers has only missed 2 games, Jackson is a good receiver, and Gates is the best TE in the NFL. Also, Rivers is only 6th in Yards/Game and is 13th in Completion %.

            • Bears catch a break as Bironas misses the last-second FG. Tied 7-7 at the half.

              • No such luck in the 2d half. Bad Rex has missed open receivers all day, and the Bears lost the field position battle bigtime. Tennessee came out throwing and took advantage of that.

I'm posting this with 8:12 left in the game, but I just don't see how the Bears can come back from two TDs behind with Grossman at QB.

                      • Their defense must have had a pretty good day, holding New Orleans to 20 pts. They are clearly a playoff contender.

                        • Green Bay misses a late FG -- in a dome -- and loses 28-27 to the Vikes. Minny and Chicago now tied for "first" at 5-4. Bears and Pack play next week.

                          • Bolts back to the same old crap defense. 7-0 Chiefs.

                            96 yard drive.

Looks like the problem is not the coach but the players.

Mostly as a result of interceptions by Brees. Brees passed for a lot of yards, but threw 3 INTs... including one in the end zone and one deep in Falcons territory that was returned for a TD.

Now, lets see if Rivera can get this defense fixed.
