    • Aaron Rodgers probably has about the same chance... similar passing yards, higher completion percent, and similar TDs adding in his 3 rushing scores.

IE, no, no he doesn't have a shot...
Still has the highest QB rating of all the NFL quarterbacks, and improved on his ranking today despite the loss, which wasn't his fault. Will likely be number 2 in yards behind only Brees.

Who else is there? Manning has been struggling too. Roethlisberger isn't that good, and Rivers is doing better then Farve.

Brees may well be the MVP of the NFC, but the AFC MVP would likely be Rivers.

      • There is only one MVP, Ben.

        • Just the one?

          I thought there were two.

          Forgive me then.

Still, that game tonight was the matchup between the top-two QBs in the game right now.

          • I think Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, and Peyton Manning would disagree with you ... and maybe Kurt Warner, Matt Schaub, and Kyle Orton, if you're just counting recent performance

            • MVP isn't necessarily the top QB. Especially if they're not on a top team. So neither Brees nor Rivers is looking like MVP now.

              • Brees may not be on a top team, but he's the only reason his team is halfway decent right now ... and his numbers are truly impressive. Hence why I think he gets the nod (if the voting was today). Brees is far and away the top QB in the league right now, and doing it without his two best receivers playing effectively (no Bush, and no Colston effectively for the last few weeks).

Rivers ... no. He's just not impressive enough to overcome the fact that his team might not even make the playoffs.

                • I think Brees and Rivers are right at the top. Warner is in the team photo.

The injury probably puts Romo out of the running. Peyton is clearly not himself. Cutler has a shot, but seems to have lost the magic after a hot start. Orton and Schaub both got off to slow starts, but if they can keep the mojo rolling and their teams make the post-season, they will definitely merit consideration.

It's interesting that so few running backs have really stepped it up this year. Clinton Portis and Adrian Peterson are looking strong, but that's about it. LT has been hobbled, Barber has been good but not great, and Michael Turner has problems against better defenses. Steven Jackson and Frank Gore are handicapped by being on horrible teams, and Reggie Bush won't get any MVP love until he shows he can run the ball.

                  • Jason Campbell has a better shot that Orton or Schaub.

                    • For MVP? I don't think so. He might be a better QB, but Washington doesn't seem to throw very often, and Clinton Portis leads the league in rushing.

                      • They don't throw very often, but he's been good with the football (no INTs yet so far this season!).

WAS aren't laying the smackdown on their opponents so the fact that he isn't turning the ball over, means a lot to them.

                        • Indeed... 8 TDs and 0 Ints is pretty nice. And Washington may end up 12-4 or 13-3, and the perception of Orton and Schaub isn't that great (as opposed to Campbell of whom nothing much has been said).

                          • I'm certainly not banging the drum for Orton or Schaub, but with his low TD total and lack of turnovers, Campbell is stuck with the "game manager" label. Not a recipe for MVP votes, especially with Portis on the team.

                            • I believe his passer rating is also higher than both of them .

                              • I've already agreed he may be a better QB than Orton or Schaub. But we're discussing MVP possibilities here. And, fairly or not, Jason Campbell has none.
