    • That has to go down as one of the top 5 big plays of all time. Move over Flutie.

Um... It was a great play, but let's not push over Flutie's miracle Hail Mary just yet.

I'd probably put them in the top 5 - 3rd at best.

As for Iowa's bid at the Top 10.....

They moved from 39th to 56th today.

            • Incredibly poor clock management by Texas on their last scoring drive. I counted at least two instances where there were at least 10+ seconds left on the play clock, and on the TD there were more that 20+ seconds left on the play clock. Better clock management and Tech doesn't have enough time to make the comeback.

              As is:

              1. Alabama
              2. Penn State
              3. Texas Tech
              4. Texas
              5. Oklahoma
              6. Oklahoma State
              7. Florida
              8. Boise State
              9. TCU
              10. USC

I am so sick of watching that Flutie play maybe I am a little prejudiced.

Depends on if you are rating teams on which teams you think are better. For example, I think Florida is a better team than Alabama, so I have rated them higher, regardless of their 1 loss.

                  • Actually I would probably rate Alabama #1. Too bad they won't throw the Top 4 or 8 in a playoff to really find out.

                    • Actually, you're just like all the dumbasses. I told you Texas Tech wouldn't get their due. Imran says, Texas Tech has no defense. I'll tell you what, the line to idiots is forming here on the left. Get in line. Big 12 rules. Someone has to lose. Missouri barely beat Baylor, so they're 2nd tier? Someone has to lose boys. Get your best team from Big 10, Pac 10, whomever, and Big 12 2nd best, Texas, will kick them to the curb. Strength of competition needs to come into play.

It's a bit hard to say you have a defense, when you are not even in the Top 50 defenses in the county:

And did I miss the 33 points Texas scored? Once again, Texas Tech's offense was the star.

Yeah, you know that Baylor team that lost to Wake Forest and Connecticut? Someone has to lose, but usually Baylor attempts to fill that role.

                        • Well, Imran, they gave the number 1 team in the country more than they could handle. Statistics on the things you cite don't really count for much, I hate to tell you. And, is mouthing about Baylor the best you can do? Mu offer stands. Put Bayor, in their position in the Big 12, against whomever you're rooting for this week. Frankly, I've lost track.

                          • Actually Sloww I agree - that is precisely why I would like to see a playoff. To be honest, I am not prepared to say Tech is a "better" team than Texas, but they did win and are certainly an equivalent and definitely DESERVE to be ranked higher.

I would say that Texas and Tech are 2 of the Top 5. Alabama certainly deserves to be in that group. I'd probably put Florida and Oklahoma in there and call it Tier 1.

Even though Penn St. is undefeated (and I am a Big 10 fan) they just don't seem at the same level to me. So I would put them in Tier 2. In that group I would also include USC and Okla St.

After that it gets dicey and there is a decent possibility that some other teams belong up there in Tier 2 especially Utah and perhaps Boise St. But those teams are always unpredictable and might really be 7-4 teams if they played in a legit conference. It's really hard to tell with those type of teams. Ohio St seems borderline for Tier 2 to me also.

Then comes all of the Tier 3 teams - that could be Tier 2 but just don't quite seem there. BYU, Michigan St. Missouri, Minnesota, Northwestern, TCU, Ball St (I guess although I think they would get exposed like Tulsa did if they played some real teams) California, North Carolina, Ga Tech, Fla St. Georgia (I am sure I am missing a few others) all seem like good teams but flawed.

Again, that is why a playoff would be the best solution. It's pretty obvious now where Georgia stacks up against Florida and Alabama. But how can anyone say how Utah stacks up against Texas Tech or how Boise St. stacks up against stacks up against Penn St. It is all speculative.

So did Oregon State when Southern Cal was the #1 team in the country... but I don't see anyone make a case that that victory in and of itself means Oregon State has a good defense (though their defense isn't that bad).

Also, when did you become a fan of Oregon State? It's hard to keep up.
