  • It's amazing that in the slop and rain, Florida has been this dominant over Florida State, who is a team that was contending for the ACC title until last week.

      • Oklahoma isn't going to pass Texas, period.

        • If they beat Oklahoma State, they are likely to pass Texas in the BCS standings.

            • Thanks

It's just simple (somewhat... with the BCS, nothing is simple though) math, really. Texas leads Oklahoma by something like 0.002 in the BCS standings. If Oklahoma beats #11 Oklahoma State, that is really going to help in the computer rankings.

              • That's fine and dandy, but in the final standings for the Big 12, Texas will win. They'll go play the northern winner and Oklahoma will sit and pout.

                • You're forgetting the human element, Imran. If Oklahoma struggles against Oklahoma State, Oklahoma will lose some support in the Harris & USA Today polls. You also have to consider Florida as well - Florida was behind Oklahoma in the USA Today poll and might jump Oklahoma no matter what Oklahoma does.

It's not nearly as done a deal as you think. (And it's 0.09, not 0.002.)

Let's watch the games and see what happens.

Uh... do you understand how this even works, Slow?

If Oklahoma finishes ahead of Texas in the BCS rankings after this week, then THEY go to the Big 12 championship game.

That's doubtful as the final score against FSU doesn't really jump out at you.

All I said that it was likely that Oklahoma passes Texas if they beat OSU (cause the computers are the stumbling block in that)... and that they deserve to.

Of course if they lose to OSU, forget everything because Texas Tech is going.

If Oklahoma struggles against Oklahoma State, Oklahoma will lose some support in the Harris & USA Today polls.

I am sure that it'll be pointed out that Texas only beat OSU by 4.

Why is it amazing? Florida is the second-best team in the country, after USC.

Dude, the ACC is bad this year.

I'm not saying I'm not impressed by Florida; I am, very much so. But beating an ACC contender this year, to me, isn't much more impressive than beating, say, Michigan.
