    Well that's just ****ing dumb.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      • I never thought this would be a pitching duel. Great game.

        • I like the Twins. They've gotta be the best run franchise in baseball, they just keep winning without attracting any free agents at all.

Oh well. The prospect of a Chicago-Chicago WS is definitely intriguing.

          • Now the White Sox can go and lose to the Rays

            • That's clearly where the smart money will go. The Rays are a strong team. But it's when there are no expectations that the White Sox seem to thrive.

              So we shall see.

              • The Twins win because of the Metrodome. Take that away and you take away 20 wins a season.

I was at the game, and it was a blast, everyone cheering constantly and no sitting down basically at any point... the Griffey throw to nail Cuddyer at the plate looked amazing in person, a straight shot right to AJ, amazing velocity ...

I think the Rays will have their hands full with the Sox, personally. The Sox are peaking now, hopefully, with a lot of momentum and the bats seem to be back. Now if only Quentin would return... and the Rays have so little post-season experience that I think will come back to bite them. Also, Thome and Griffey have something big to play for (possibly their last shot at a title), and you could tell last night they both had the playoffs firmly in their minds...

                • The White Sox are peaking?! They were 4-6 in their last 10 games, 9-11 in their last 20, and 13-17 in their last 30!

If that's peaking, then I wonder what you'd call the run the Angels have been on! (7-3 in their last 10, 14-6 in their last 20, and 20-10 in their last 30).

                  • They're peaking in the last three games, of course.

                    • How can you say they're not peaking?
                      They're 3 out of their last 3

                          • Phillies down the Brewers in Game 1. Hamels was unhittable. Lidge was shaky, but got'r done.

                              • I was kind of surprised at that as well... but he "claims" he wants the defense on a day like today. Plus, I think he wants a disciplined bat near the top of the order to set the tone.
