    I've thought since May that the 2 slot was best for Kosuke. Especially with DeRosa having a craeer year. Having a guy like Theriot hitting 8th is a huge bonus.

    Man, this series has some serious managerial talent facing off.

              Dempster's throwing an awful lot of pitches...75 in 4 innings. But so far so good.

                        Soriano is looking to repeat last year's post season performance. He seemed to be trying too hard at every bat. That didn't help.

                          The whole team was eerily reminscent of the fruitless hitting approach against Arizona last year.

                          But this loss gets laid at the feet of Ryan Dempster. A little adrenaline is a dangerous thing. He had great stuff but none of his characteristic control -- 7 BB vs. 14 outs. He only walked 76 in 33 starts this year. I kept thinking he would pull it together, but he was just pumped out of his little kitty brain. Kudos to LA for having the patience to take advantage of it.

                                That was impressive. Absolutely impressive. Usually the Cubs wait until the last game of the series, or the next to last, to screw it up. This year, first game out.

                                At least it saves you all from getting your hopes up further, right?
