    Edmonton played too badly early in the season to earn a spot in the playoffs. They almost played well enough late in the season to make up for the early season, but fell just short. I don't blame Nashville for that, I blame losses in October/November/December.

          I think there's no doubt Montreal is the better team. The problem is they are supremely overconfident. Now they're in a situation where they must win.

          And the better team will win now they they have equal motivation.

            Ben posits that the Central Division is the weakest in the Western Conference. That may well be true. But, if so, explain this stat:

            Detroit vs. Northwest Division: 15-2-3
            Detroit vs. Pacific Division: 15-5-0
            Detroit vs. Central Division: 17-12-3

                  Wouldn't the better argument be,

                  Central Division vs Northwest division?

                  Detroit is an excellent team. I think I already said it. It's the rest of the division that isn't all that hot.

                      I think his point was DET killed everyone else BUT the central division - their record was just a bit over .500 there. Thus, perhaps the Central division was not so bad
