  • What is funny about all of this is that we are whining about a player like Soriano in left field.

Yes, no matter what your stats say, he is a butcher these days in left field... But still, if that's the biggest problem on the team...

    GO CUBS!
    Keep on Civin'

    • Agreed, and the CUBS have had some real butchers in LF before.

Think Dave Kingman, but at least he tried, he still looked like a bufoon out there, but he tried.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

            • The Rangers haven't even managed to get in the circle. They're still grasping at shapes. They've been trying to get a pitcher for 35 years. Trading 3 minor league players for some 37 year old has-been, crap like that.

              • Yeah, what's with that?

At least they are only 5 back right now, due to some AMAZING hitting.

                • I'd love to see a list of future all-stars traded by the Rangers.

                  • I believe every team has a list like that, though.

Recently the Rangers have been on fire though... like dealing Chris Young and Adrian Gonzales to San Diego for a crappy Adam Eaton and a good reliever in Otsuka.

                    • Dumb ass announcers. After Soriano hits the walk off hit, the announcer goes, remember Soriano was traded for A-Rod... yeah, mostly because Texas didn't want to pay the rest of A-Rod's salary! They never though Soriano was as good as A-Rod... he was just a great player who was much cheaper.

Yeah, had to admit this one was a "HUH" then followed by laughter. Especially since it was a kind of lucky bloop hit and not a ripped one.

And after all this discussion I'm glad they didn't lift Soriano for a defensive replacement in the 9th. (granted Lou's options were limited at the time so it actually made sense) but that doesn't change my opinion that there will be games where it should be done.

And I hope that Soriano is reading the local papers because he was taking a lot of abuse. Maybe it will encourage him to put in a little more effort and a little more thought.

They always have hitting. Year after year they lose games by like, 15-14

If you watched last nights game, you would have seen him hit the padded wall down the left field line last night going after a foul ball. He indeed made the catch.
It was probably a web gem on ESPN later

Since the injury, he has shown a great reluctance to get anywhere near a wall... but last night for the first time in a while, he didn't shy away from the wall.
Maybe he is reading the press...

                              • Hitting the padded walls along foul territory is rather different from hitting the Ivy... but we'll see (Or rather you'll see... I'll continue to watch Swisher make a mockery of CF. At least he *tries*, though.)
