  • Let's keep Kazmir's amazing numbers in perspective (the other way) though... as a result of injury, he's only started 6 games. He has been 5-1, but even in a normal year (ERA+ of 130-140 [yes, so far that seems "normal" for him... ****ing McIllvaine] instead of 337), with the improved offense, I think he could match that record. Or 4-2 instead. Not much difference.

    • The Cubs are indeed on a roll. Watching the games, it seems like they are never out of it. Even when they get behind, you see a team that is confident that they will win. As a Cub fan, I'm not used to this

      • And aren't you glad Soriano's back?

        • Of course we are! He's finally hitting.

And Lou has removed him TWICE in the past week on double-switches for 9th inning defense.

            • But Lou claimed it wasn't for defense, that it was just normal double-switches and people shouldn't read too much into it.

Hmmm Soriano hustling, Lou making late inning changes. I guess they read the papers.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The draft and trades fed by the draft. They've finished last over and over and over, and thus keep getting high draft picks. To their credit, they have (especially of late) done good things with those picks. Now they've got a boatload of young talent... now it's a matter of finishing touches.

                ...

Joba starts tonight, yay. I will likely miss it, b/c I'm going to my town's public budget hearing, which starts at 7. Since he's on a ~70 pitch limit, he may be out of the game by the time I get back (figure he pitches 4 innings). Participating in democracy whilst pining for bread & circuses...

And of course, if he struggles, all Yankees haters (which means you).

                    • Boston takes Game 1: 7-4. Crisp is the hero and Garza runs out of steam in the 6th Inning.

Oh, and for Arrian, Joba gets chased in the 3rd inning and the Jays cruise.

                        • Pedro gets the win in his first start back from the DL. Not all that impressive (6 innings, 3 ERs), but effective.

If they win their tenth in a row, Brenly (TV announcer) has to shave his mustache.

                            • Braves may be done. Smoltz is gone for the year:

Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz, who spent five weeks on the disabled list with an inflamed rotator cuff, will have season-ending shoulder surgery, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

                              • That's a big blow to the Braves. As a starter or closer for the Braves, he could be a difference maker.

Now the question is, will a 41 year old pitcher be able to come back from yet another surgery.
