Last year (06-07) was definitely more out of balance IMO. Detroit was the only competitive team from the East and when they lost to Cleveland, the Finals became a joke. Anyone from the final 4 in the West would have been a prohibitive favorite, and rightly so.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi

I don't think it's ever been this far out of whack.
Out West this year, Phoenix and Dallas came back to the pack. New Orleans and LA rose up. Utah is improved. But there was no truly dominant team -- more like a pack of 8-9 really good teams.
In the East, Boston pieced together a real team while Detroit recovered from its malaise. Cleveland faded a bit, but the young teams in Orlando and Atlanta made measurable progress.

Pistons had a big comeback, only to fall short. Sheed got his sixth tech. One more and he misses a game. 
Rip Hamilton hurt his right elbow near the end of the game. Hope he'll be OK for game 6.
