    Just wondering...

So now you're also conceding the point about the 3-year body of work? Again, your line of thinking is rather confused.

Well the last time ND lost to two service academies in one season was in the 40s. But the Air Force wasn't around back then (IIRC, it was part of the Army), so, that'd be never.

a 3 year body of work that has as many bowl game wins as ty, more losses than ty?

You gave the question way too much credit I'm afraid. While ND should never lose to either Navy or the Air Force, Notre Dame's winning streak against Navy is by far the longest winning streak in football history -- one of those records that will never be broken. This despite the fact that Navy's consistently a pretty good team.

The question implies a line of thinking that would punish a guy because he hasn't won the lottery when his parents have won the lottery.

            • thats crap and you know it. there is no excuse to lose to a physically inferior Navy unless your coaching is crap.

By the way, the bid wasn't the crappiest that year by far.
go back to 2002... figure that those recruited during those years will be playing in 2005.

im sorry but the idea that recruits are going to save you is a joke.

also, how do you reconcile that the best season in recent memory was done with ty's recruits? is it ty's responsibility 3 years into the weis era that they losing, and is it ty's responsibility that they did so well in the first 2 years?

                • There have been so many times that Navy should have won the game and broken the streak. Ask TCO. You can look at it as magic, if you wish, but I guess I'm humbled by the odds of that streak.

football isnt a lottery and gambler's fallacy has nothing to do with winning football games. the fact that there is a streak is irrelevant each time they play. what matters is how you match the team up. what is wrong with your team when navy is better than you?

I'm not here assigning blame. I rather think that there are numerous people besides Ty who were doing their level best to run the program into the ground.

I am merely laying out the internal thinking on Weis, which is in direct opposition to the perceived wisdom of those who think they know more about the program than they actually do.

                      • the internal thinking on weis is that it is ty's fault for this year 3 years later?

We suck this year. That fact has been demonstrated. Did I ever say that we didn't?

and the reason that you suck is because you had a recruiting class in 2004 and 2005 that were #32 and #40?

notre dame, since 2002 has averaged a 20 ranking in recruiting.

The facts are what they are -- it's well past time to lay blame and there is ample blame to go around. But if you're considering the state of the program, and how Charlie fits into it, that will be one of the major factors to consider.

Yes, that's a major factor. And all the guys who washed out of the program in the transition.
