  • Detroit has Denver, @ AZ, NYG, GB (Tnxgvg), @ MN, Dallas, @ SD, KC, and @ GB. I think they can get three more wins and hit 10.

    • may as well chalk up another NE win. Can anyone beat these guys? Besides Indy, though I'm predicting (and hoping) a Patriots win next week while the Colts beat them in the playoffs.

      • Umm... if they get three more wins, that would make eight. (I could see wins vs. Denver, at Arizona, vs. KC. The rest are, at best, iffy, and even those three aren't sure things.)

You are, of course, forgetting the two wins in the preseason.

          • Let's look at this math.

            40 passes, 208 yards, 1 TD, 4 int.
20 total rushing plays. Benson got a whopping 13 carries for 50 yards, which translates to about 3.85 yards per carry. Another week where the Bears absolutely wasted him.

Not too surprisingly, the time of possession was 35 for Detroit and 25 for the Bears.

            • What is surprising is that the pass-happy Martz called a lot of running plays - Lions had 119 yds rushing.

                    • With the Patriots up 38-0 in the early 4th quarter, Brady was still in the game. Brady passed deep to Moss. Then later Brady did a QB sneak on 4th and 1, and passed for the touchdown.

I'm a Colts fan, so I'm hesitant to accuse people of running up the score. But this is just disgusting.

                      • The Colts don't do that, really. I hope the Colts pound sand up New England's ass in the playoffs.
Their regular season game, I kind of want the Pats to win. Set the stage, as it were.

I have a problem with this statement..

This is the NFL, not a JV Football game or Little League setting

You have to start early, and continue, since you dont know when the other team might kick it in gear.

Exactly when should one team "Throw" the game, no putting up anymore points?

Not like its 1 minute to go and hey could kneel, but instead pull another score....

No, not able to even come close to agreeing with you.(On this statement, not necessarily others you have made)

It was light rain. English "storms" are a lot worse than that.

The stadium is big, but a lot of the football (soccer) stadia are about the same size.

When you're up by a large enough margin that you're assured of winning the game, you should run the ball every play, and wait until the playclock runs down fully. This means you can take 40 seconds off the clock for every little 4 yard chunk of yardage, and end the game in the fewest number of plays possible, giving both teams fewer opportunities to keep scoring. (This is actually the optimal strategy when you're leading by a large margin, anyway.) Additionally, you should not involve your starting quarterback in sneak plays during garbage time, because that risks an injury for the sole purpose of padding your scoring margin.

What the Patriots are doing is trying to win by the largest possible margin, not trying to win.
