If the authorities can't get their act together to actually check the tickets of the people walking into the stadium then it shouldn't be a surprise that some people take advantage of that. Having read further, I agree that there were organisation failures, but unfortunately Liverpool have a history of turning up late, ticketless, trying to steal tickets off each other and charging the gates.
Not having turnstiles at the stadium sounds like lunacy, though and seems to be a major part of the problem.Comment

I agree, Beckham would be in the squad and have played some part against Brazil no matter what happened to Lennon. There was far too much pressure on McClaren not to pick him.
