I mean, without Rick DiPietro's improvement, the Isles would be nowhere near the spot they are today. So, in that way, he's more 'valuable' to his team than, say, Marty St. Louis, because Tampa would probably still be a playoff team (although lower ranked, obviously) if they only had Vinny and Brad Richards carrying the load. But does that mean DiPietro's actually closer to being an MVP than St. Louis? I don't think so.
So, yeah, I'd agree that Brodeur or Luongo or Kiprusoff would be the true MVP candidates, but it'll probably go to Crosby... but that's okay, too.
