  • Lest anyone get the wrong idea, my moves this week have been for two reasons - 1) to get to comparable skater games with Kontiki, we're only 1 game apart now; and 2) planning for the last two-weeks.*

Not that I'm against frequent player/game rotating - just wanted it to be clear that wasn't what has been going on.

*I'm not assuming that I'll be in the final - just preparing a power finish for whomever I face - if it happens to be a face-washing for third place, so be it.

      • I have another Toskala problem, I have all three goalies scheduled to play tonight, but one of them is Toskala who hasn't played in quite a while, the website that Hot Mustard used for me earlier in the week indicated he would have played on Tuesday, but he didn't so now I don't know what to think for tonight.

Important decision as I would like to have Toskala in the lineup, but only if he is going to play of course.

        • I recommend you sit all your goalies.

          • Notes: With Calgary's 2-1 victory over Detroit on Tuesday the Oilers were officially eliminated from the playoffs, one year removed from playing in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final. With nine games to go, it marked the earliest Edmonton has ever been knocked out of contention.

            Pretty grim game notes.

Er, that's exactly what's been going on, but considering Asher is the only one getting his panties in a twist over it, it's a rather moot point.

I guess I didn't state that clearly. What I mean is that my moves haven't been with the aim to win through volume of games. Your players were simply playing more games than my beginning roster this week was going to, so I evened the field, so to speak. If I was intent on player-whoring to get more games than you then I would not have stopped yesterday, ending up with excess players on the bench today. You have the same thing on Saturday in fact, and you're welcome to make changes to move those games elsewhere - as I said, I have nothing against it - just noting that what I've done has not had the intent that Asher is so vehemently against.

I'm pretty sure Asher's beef is with the practice of picking up players to squeeze in a skater game or two and then immediately dropping them to do the same with some other player(s), which at the same time locks players up on waivers. I doubt he draws an arbitrary line between evening up skater games and attempting to outpace your opponent. But again, it doesn't bother me much, so rotate to your heat's content.

Combine that with the Oils huge losng streak and I figure that Rollie or Markkanen will just steal one.

Based on last night I am starting to think the OIl could manage to close out the season with a 20 game losing streak--

I know Smyth was traded and the Oil have injuries but SUCK IT UP AND PLAY.

The Oilers effort last night was called by many their WORST on the season. Have some pride gang-- many of you are playing for your current and future jobs!!

Incidently, it would be interesting to see the Flames with Iginla, Tanguay, Lombardi, Yelle and a couple other forwards out of the line up. Then add in that they would have maybe Warrener and Zyuzin on D and then 2 call ups from Omaha, someone from junior, and no sixth D dressed.

                          Suck it up indeed.

                            It wouldn't be that bad.

The Flames have depth, the Oilers do not. Lombardi is a 3rd liner and Yelle a 4th liner. Iginla and Tanguay are important, but with other players like Huselius, Moss, Boyd, Conroy...it's not the end of the world.

There are only 2 teams in the entire league with 3 30+ goal scorers so far this season, and Calgary is one of them.

PS: There's not a single player on the Oilers roster, injured or otherwise, that are comparable to Iginla or Tanguay. That's your GM's fault.
