  • Yeah, I'm sure last night's beating did remind the Bruins of when they had Raycroft last year.

      Any word on how bad?

No word other than a "lower body injury"-- IT was in the first period and Iggy took a hit and then got in a fight. They said the injury came from the hit

Kobasew was injured early as well and the Flames played with 11 forwards

      • The word on Iggy this morning so far is that he "tweaked" his knee. He did walk without any noticeable limp after the game and the thinking was it could not be anything TOO serious

        • Great blowout for the Leafs but the 2 points is the bigger thing here. Embarassing a team is double-edged though.

The Leafs now have a 3 point bulge on a bunch of teams-- Its not at all a secure playoff perch but they at least know they cannot lose their position in a single evening

Those Leafs remain wild to watch

Seems like he's having some consistency problems.

yup-- the report is a sprained MCL and that he will be re-evaluated in a week.

Not good news with Dallas coming to town

                • Ahhhhh good to see the Leafs play again.

                  Raycroft looks dreadful, as usual.

                  • Flames gut out a win with two goals by Ritchie a regular third liner and a winner by Dustin Boyd in his first NHL goal. Considering that Iggy and Kobasew are out, others have to step up.

The reality is that many of the Flames better efforts have come from their young eager AHLers-- Tonight the line of Yelle, Boyd and MOss was quite good. I can see people like Nillson, Lundemark and McCarty being quite expendable up front. ON D, Giordano has already supplanted Zuyzen in the top 6.

The problem is that I don't see any of these guys being great trade bait for anything worthwhile. What's the market value of a guy that gets beaten out of a 4th line job?

                    • Moss should replace McCarty
                      Giordano should place Andrea Susan

Rich Preston needs to be fired.

Yup-- Moss looks ready now and is contributing. The ONLY reason to send him down is if he can get a lot more minutes to develop faster.

This has already happened for all intents and purposes as Zuyzen has been a healthy scratch the last 3 games. They are even speculating Zuyzen could fill in up front.

Why Preston? I know you were xalling for Playfair's head for a while so why is it now Preston? For those that don't know . . ..

                        Rich Preston
                        Assistant Coach

On June 26, 2003, Rich Preston rejoined the Flames organization as Assistant Coach. The Regina, SK native was previously with the Flames organization, along with Head Coach Brian Sutter, from 1997-2000 and helped the Flames increase its point totals in each of those seasons.

With the San Jose Sharks (2000-02) as an Assistant Coach under Head Coach Darryl Sutter, Preston also saw his team improve its point totals each year.

Prior to coaching with Calgary and San Jose, Preston spent two seasons (1995-96 and 1996-97) as Head Coach of his hometown, Regina Pats of the WHL. During this period the Pats compiled a 79-60-5 record. With 42 wins registered in the 1996-97 season, the Pats managed their first 40 win season in 11 years and also established a new team record 27 home game undefeated streak.

Preston began his coaching career with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1991-92 campaign and spent four seasons with the team. He worked as an Assistant Coach to Mike Keenan during the 1991-92 season, and to Darryl Sutter from 1992-95.

Preston played in eight NHL seasons from 1979-87 with the Chicago Blackhawks and the New Jersey Devils, collecting 291 points (127 goals, 164 assists) in 580 games. Preston also played in the World Hockey Association from 1974-79 with the Houston Aeros and the Winnipeg Jets, winning the WHA Championship with Houston in 1975 and with Winnipeg in 1979. He was named Playoff MVP in 1979 with the Jets.

Thanks, but it not over yet.

With Healty, Niedermayer, Selanne, Spezza, & both our goalies playing tonight, there could be a 6 point swing tonight. (Only thing safe is my assits and +/-)

                            • Spezza's still hurt, so I'm not going to be getting any points there. His time off (and refusal of Ottawa to put him on the IR) hasn't exactly helped me over the last few weeks, but other players had been picking up the slack. Not so much this week, plus your guys have put up some good numbers.

He's the special teams coach. Our special teams are consistently bad.
