  • Edmonton meanwhile seems to have a lot of depth up front -- I was surprised that they made a move for a forward frankly when they seem to have greater needs at the d position but this may have just been a good opportunity on the cheap which gives them more depth up front to allow them to make a bigger move later.

    • Ottawa-- Looked good again. If their goalkeeping can hold up at all, they will be just fine. They have made it to 4 games over .500, good for 5th in the East and seem to have their confidence. PLus they are winning even while some of their better players are injured

      • Vancouver? -- wow they looked plenty good against Dallas last night. Luongo is playing now as he was initially expected and seem able to take a game from anyone at any time

Calgary gets Florida tonight . Florida is relatively hot after a dismal start to the season but did lose last night. The Flames are in a rut after the lwinning string and the team is once again shaking up the lines. Tanguay returns to the top unit. Whille Huselius drops to the second line with Lombardi and an elevated Amonte. Kobasew drops from the second line to join Freisen and Yelle on the 3rd line. I don't know that it makes a ton of difference. I have to figure that Iggy is due after a few quiet nights but if he is not playing well I do hope that they give the other lines a chance. It seems on nights where Iginla is not playing that great, they keep on just throwing him out there-- I never quite understood that.

        • and it looks like a great night in hockey tonight. I am looking forward to Toronto-Boston. Boston dominated early between the two but Toronto kicked ass last time out. Plus with Toronto in 8th and Boston ONE point back with FOUR games in hand, its difficult to overstate how big thos one is for the Leafs.

Almost all the eastern playoff contenders are also in action so Toronto could find themselves tied for 7th or back in 10th by the end of the night.

In the west Dallas is in Edmonton which is always fun. However this is a back to back for Dallas and teams generally have a worse record in the back half. I haven't heard if Turco goes tonight. IN any event I sort of expect to see Edmonton raise to the challenge and maybe even win this one. I just find that teams tend to win a few after a bad streak and the Oil have been streaky all season.

Calgary gets Florida and really needs a win to stay in close touch with Vancouver and Minnesota. I am actually attending this game so they BETTER play well

              • Jesus, it's getting confusing with all of these goals. Stadium announcer saying Stajan scored, the play-byplay saying Steen scored. ??

                Two goals in 25 seconds.

                8-2 blowout.

Glad I woke up early to listen to the game.

                      • It's not looking good in Oil Country.

I've lost count of the number of leads they've given up for losses. They don't normally stage come backs themselves.

The play in the defensive zone is actually getting worse, and the killer instinct isn't there to bury a team with the offense that is supposed to be there.

                        Not looking good, sports fans.

                        • Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Edmonton has a lead which they blow and Dallas gets the 5-4 lead.........then.............Dallas misses an empty net goal in one of the funniest plays I have ever seen in hockey at any level a play that will be played and replayed on highlight (lowlight?) reels for the forseeable future, only to have the game end in a lose in a shootout

Quite the game, not one I am impressed by, I guess like MacTavish, we should be happy to come out of a bizzarre game with a point.

                          /me

Terrible night. It'll be interesting to see if he'll bounce back with a shut-out like he did after an awful game last month.

                                But what's your point?

Oh, and I guess the Bruins are still laughing about fleecing the Leafs on the Raycroft trade. The Bruins goaltending is fine without him, eh.
