Regardless (and I don't think Romney will win), Ben having to decide will be great .

You don't think there are going to be job losses in the insurance industry? I have a bridge in Brooklyn. Cheap.
Considering the insurance companies have made a deal with the administration, AND the bill is going to force businesses above a certain level to get insurance.... which will come from... private insurance , perhaps I should be offering you a bridge.

So my choices are Democrat, or Democrat lite?

I'd rather have Democrat and Republican TYVM.
Your choices are actually Democrat and Republican; you'd rather have Democrat and Right-wing wackjob as your choices. In which case, get used to never winning another election unless the Dems **** up as badly as Dubya did (though one of the 5 worse Presidents in history doesn't come around too often).

You complete and utter ****ing moron. Yeah, let the uninsured wait until something catastrophic happens before they get care. How about preventative care to prevent it from getting that far?

Regardless, the health plan is for the poor and middle class, to be honest. Working in regulation of health care, I can tell you that insurance companies are bastards and greater federal controls over them (and not just changing pre-existing condition rules) would be very welcome to middle class workers, especially when there is more than enough evidence that insurance companies provide extra money for those who have the most claim denials, etc.

            • Is hasn't just been Palin pushing this euthanasia meme. And not just well-documented professional douchebags Limbaugh or Beck, either.

Apparently, a few days before Palin's statement, Newt Gingrich went "full ******" as well:

Look at what Dr. Emmanuel has said, the President’s advisor who has certainly implied a willingness to consider euthanasia, and then you look at the historic record of euthanasia. You know, should Down syndrome children be at risk of the government, or should their lives be protected?

If you read the "communitarian standards" that Dr. Emmanuel describes, then it certainly sounds very foreboding and very threatening, and I think you can suddenly get people engaged in conversation and in debate who would not normally be engaged in it.

He then defended Palin on the Sunday talk circuit:

"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud

                • And in a vast, vast majority of the US, you NEED a car to work and support yourself and your family.
That is true, but again, you can choose not to own a vehicle and live in one of the areas where it's not necessary. It is different then a tax on breathing, which is what medicare does.

I don't like the car tax, and it is one of the most regressive taxes out there, in charging poorer people more money, but it's not as bad as the breathing tax.

Regardless, your objection was that it was forcing people to pay for coverage they don't want... doesn't that equally apply to auto insurance?
My objection was having to pay a tax without an alternative. With cars, I can walk, work from home, ride a bus, take public transit, hitch a ride with a friend. I can't choose to stop breathing.

Considering the insurance companies have made a deal with the administration, AND the bill is going to force businesses above a certain level to get insurance.... which will come from... private insurance , perhaps I should be offering you a bridge.
The reason they are making a deal is because they know there will be job losses in the industry. As Walgreens said, if you can get the milk for free why pay for it? They've dropped employee coverage.

I'm loving how 'Obamacare' will do the same crap single payer does up here.

Your choices are actually Democrat and Republican; you'd rather have Democrat and Right-wing wackjob as your choices.
                  Up here Palin is revered.

                  5 worst presidents?

Obama accrues a deficit in 1 year, greater then Dubya's 8 years combined. At least when he gets turfed we get a grown-up in who can pay all this **** off. I love it how one of the better presidents you've had is still shat upon by the O worshippers.

Bush bashing was so last year.

It's called 'taking personal responsibility'. Things such as proper diet, exercise, not shagging strange hookers, etc.

                    Perhaps you've heard it before?

Regardless, the health plan is for the poor and middle class, to be honest.
Seeing as it exempts wealth already accrued, and taxes everyone regardless of how much they make, I can't see how it benefits anyone except the truly wealthy.

Oddly, I can get other insurance coverage, and I can drop it if they do **** like that.

Can I drop the federal government or buy a new government while I'm at it. Do you honestly think the Obama administration is any less of a bastard then the insurance companies?

If you are defending BK, I have lost all respect for you. Especially the parts about it being "baseless, unintelligent, rude, and gratuitous."

It's not baseless. It has been proven time and again over the years that there is no point in attempting to explain BK anything. He's the energizer bunny of Know-Nothingism.

It was a very witty comment.

It's hardly rude to point out that Ben is immune to correction.

Lastly, it's not gratuitous, because BK asked for an answer.

BK is, without a doubt, one of the most intellectually dishonest people ever to grace Apolyton. He's a scumbag. And he's a hypocrite.

Snuh? While the KKK could be called anti-intellectual to some extent, it is not their distinguishing characteristic. Indeed, IIUC they frequently appeal to intellectualism by holding up Caligastia-style "studies" showing how blacks are inherently criminal or stupid. While they do not represent the academic elite of society by any means, their hatred is not directed specifically towards "ivory-tower intellectuals" (see also "Blue-cheese-eating," "arugula salad," "tweed jacketed", etc.), which is the common bogeyman of Republican populists (Democratic populists, of course, are more anti-business). You know, those ivy league eggheads, who think they're better than a tractor repairman in Mississippi on account of their big Latin degrees and their Origin of Species and blah blah blah?

All this is leaving out that Byrd (I assume that's who you're referring to) hasn't been a Klan member since around the time my mother was born, and so on, but keep calling him a Klansman if that's what gets your rocks off.

                            • Apparently, the current Grand Wizard is also a Dem, although rumor has it that most of the membership now regards itself as Republican.

I hadn't bothered to try to explain to BK that the Repubs leading lights are Glenn Beck and the Big Fatass both of whom have never met a study or a critique that anyone should trust. Everyone that challenges their "facts" are obviousy "Socialists." BK will just nitpick such an input to death without replying to the point at hand.

Of course, everyone who understands the issue must agree with you.

I was unaware that the Maine twins still have a (REP) by their names anymore.

Accusations of closed-minded groupthink on "my side" while implying the need for it on the part of the GOP is hypocritical at best.
