No, it comes down to the fact that they're trying to both tax the rich AND significantly increase future deficits in order to insure some of the uninsured (not all, by any stretch of the imagination)

Lets get this straight. I love it how 'champagne socialists' always want to soak the rich.

1. The Dems are trying to tax those who have a high income. They are not taxing wealth. The rich will be fine, and won't be touched. The middle class who are trying to become rich by busting their ass and making money, they are getting soaked.

2. They don't really want to insure the poor. They don't give a **** about the poor. If they wanted to do something for the poor, they would simply make sure that all hospitals are required to treat everyone who comes who cannot pay, which btw is how it works now.

3. What they do want, is control. They want to control what health care you can get and when. They want to ration it out to everyone so they get to make the decisions.

4. If Obama gave a **** about the poor, why is he imposing a regressive tax that taxes everyone just for breathing? Why is he arguing that 'everyone should have skin in the game'?

Lets get this straight arrian. I'm not the 'rich man' keeping down the poor. I strongly suspect you make a hell of a lot more then I do. Let's also get this straight. I don't need health care right now. If I want health care, I will pay for it. I don't need folks like you taking my money to pay for your damn Obamacare. Let me make my own decisions.

The Republicans are the last third party to move into place in the US, edging out the Whigs, who simply faded away. No one seems to be "fading" lately. The GOP today is in better shape than it was in the thirties and forties of the last century. It will recover, complete with its nuts as an "enhancement." The democrats are not socialists, the reps are not Fascists or Nazis. However, the anti-intellectual position being advocated currently by the GOP really is chilling, in its own way.
