Gee... more insults... what a surprise. I'm sure you will use your classic "it's the truth" defense...
People have been trolling the new management, goading them into taking actions that they can they whine about. It's a two way street.
Other parts show unilateral heavy handedness on the part of Mr. Plumpy, where he has appeared to not even listen to the mods here and attempted to impose his own view of culture on the OTF.
Has Asher ever made death threats? Has he ever united 95% of the OTF in wanting him banned? Asher and Dale aren't equal, and thank god for that. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Granted... Asher and Dale are not equal or the same. I'm not saying that they are.
But that doesn't mean that Asher has done no wrong...
People have been provoking the new management, and then playing the ole "we are innocent" game when action was finally taken. And in the end, it just leads to what they didn't want in the first place... Kind of silly if you ask me.Keep on Civin'

KH got what he deserved and wanted. No problem with that.
Asher is making complaints that aren't particular nice, but they are useful and valid (ie the "In Memory" thread wasn't his, but when I got up in the morning I was thinking WTF was going on, and it portrated Asher in a bad light that wasn't his own doing).
Also, most of this ruckus came from Plumpy making a mistake (and because of his position it doesn't seem all that honest a mistake to me). Then people overreacted to it. That is Plumpys' fault and problem, but the overreaction is valid in that it shows that we are, as a community, not going to accept having certain topics banned (ie bashing Christianty when it royally ****s up), which is what his mistake seemed to indicate. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

So, a thread was closed and then people react like this?
Somehow I doubt if it had been a thread praising Christianity people here would have been hostile. They probably would be cheering it on.
Echoing Ming's sentiments. The quickest way to get Nazi mods is to harass the only person willing to put his money up front to keep Apolyton running. Do you want Cybershy to appoint people who will enforce his POV on the OT?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Why should he be paying money to fund a site that goes out of it's way to piss him off? Honestly, I'd tell the rest of you that if you want a say as to how the site is run, pony up the dough.

Very simple. The OTF is the only active part of this site left. We all leave. The OTF dies, and Plumpy just payed over the odds for the Apolyton website url.
WPC and CFC will suck up most of the on topic posters from here (hell, most ofthe SMAC forum have already left).
That would turn out to be an absolute brilliant con on the part of DanQ et al though. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Many of us are bitter because DanQ didn't even consult the forum community on who wanted to pitch in. It was a very poor decision on his part."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The new ownership is trying to figure things out... They will make mistakes, the old owners made mistakes, and the original owner made mistakes... it happens. Robert just trying to do the best he can. He made a mistake and admitted it. More than I can say for some of the posters. On the other hand, some posters are doing everything in their powers to put the new owners in a lose lose situation. And in the end, will probably make the owners do what nobody wants. Again... pretty stupid if you ask me.Keep on Civin'

Apolyton isn't a Christian democracy.
The whole "my house, my rules" card doesn't work when your site is dying to begin with and people are leaving already. It just drives people away.
I predict in 2 years time this will be a tiny, niche Christian Civilization community with maybe 4 or 5 active posters holding the most mundane conversations imaginable."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

So now all we should do is to calm down, as you say. We've made our point. And go back to normal.
If we have to we can go somewhere else though. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
