In the middle of Some Golden Harbor, by David Drake. 5th book in his Daniel Leary, Republic of Cinnabar Navy series.
And some are wilder comrades, sworn to seek
If any golden harbor be for men
In seas of Death and sunless gulfs of Doubt.

Well written children's books (well, perhaps moreso in the young adult category) can be enjoyed by adult readers. I, for example, have greatly enjoyed the Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer.

Wrong, it was a Zyrian speaker, drunk on zythum... a fermented malt beverage made in Ancient Egypt. If you read the book more closely you'd know that believers in the "Zebra" theory are dealt with in the entry on "Gullible". You must have skipped that part after being told it was taken out.
You do know that is meant for children, ie people under the age of 16?
Well, there's nothing to say you can't enjoy the occasional childrens book. Especially quirky ones like Pratchett. I've enjoyed most of Pratchetts books (except the Johnny Maxwell trilogy) I loved The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents and I'm giving this to my oldest nephew as soon as he starts learning english in school (which is in third or fourth grade I think).
