If you're talking about illegals in U.S., actually Canadians are a higher number than "Brown people" but "brown people" cartels are more of a violent threat.

When I read that I got the impression that you believed that ICE is going to schools and snatching up and detaining all of the brown kids they see. That's why I believed you accepted an extraordinary claim without extraordinary evidence to back it up.

Lori is crabbing. You read it correctly.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

ICE is not conducting enforcement operations at, or ‘raiding,’ schools. ICE is not going to schools to make arrests of children. Criminals are no longer able to hide in America’s schools to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement and instead trusts them to use common sense. If a dangerous illegal alien felon were to flee into a school, or a child sex offender is working as an employee, there may be a situation where an arrest is made to protect public safety. But this has not happened.
oh and also
The facts are DHS’s directive allowing ICE to go into schools gives our law enforcement the ability to do their jobs.Last edited by Lorizael; October 15, 2025, 16:17.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

Originally posted by Elok View PostUh-huh. I looked it up, and the Hendrix kid is 24 per some other article. Have you, like, ever been around knuckle-headed young men in your life? This is the kind of thing they do when poorly supervised. This is all obviously intended to be read with heavy irony and consumed only by their group. That it's unspeakably vile is entirely the point, hence all the remarks Politico cites to the effect of "man if somebody finds this chatlog we are so cooked." They don't seriously think the hotel room number happens to be 1488. As they are Republicans, they are used to being called white supremacist etc. in our hyperpartisan era, so they double down on it by being ludicrously, over-the-top racist as a dumb gag in their private chat channel. Because this is the social media era, and everything has to be overdosed on irony. Which is not to deny that some, most or all of them probably are racist (depending how tightly you define 'racist' which can be used to mean a lot of things these days), but this is obviously intended to be edgelord humor.
Another example of this (or a similar phenomenon) emerged at some college a few years back--haven't been able to dig it up because I don't remember the specific college. Some frat or lacrosse team was caught compiling a document about their female counterparts on campus, assessing their appearances and probable sexual tastes. I remember "I call this one 'Gumby' because her smile is mostly gums," and "she's very traditional so I'm going to say her favorite position is missionary." When it inevitably leaked they all got in hot water and there was a brief to-do about rape culture and patriarchy etc. but everybody with sense shrugged and said "college boys being jackasses, news at eleven."
EDIT: Cf. Cards Against Humanity, which is just a gratuitously shocking version of Apples to Apples. Whole point of the game is to be offensive in much the same style as this chatlog. Been around since 2011, fairly popular. Somehow America has survived.
The number of women raped suggests there are a lot of rapists. It's not acceptable (or psychologically healthy) for teenage boys to joke about rape, let alone for adult males age 24 to 32.
I never heard a single one of my peers joke about raping being good while growing up. Their dad would have whipped them good if they had said such a thing. It's degenerate behavior, and so is playing apologist for it.

I'm not actually right wing, except compared to you, since you're to the left of me and most everybody else in the US on just about everything AFAICT. I just spent half the day arguing for radical drug legalization in other online spaces, and also that Trump blowing up Venezuelan boats is criminal and stupid. I'm a registered libertarian which used to be more Republican but now maps to neither party. My main political hobbyhorse is the debt, which both sides are vigorously ignoring except as an occasional rhetorical tool. I do, however, spend enough time in right-adjacent spaces these days to know that this shock-jock crap is simply how many young men on the right talk when nobody hostile is watching. It's all heavily affected, meta, and ironic. It's also psychologically unhealthy, grating, and in very bad taste, but so is everything these days. Suspect these kids' political careers are over before they properly started--last I checked the national GOP had already kicked them to the curb--which is for the best if they didn't have better sense than to put all this in writing.
Not really interested in arguing further with you on this though, as you pretty much ignored what I said on health insurance.

The "locker room talk" and "boys will be boys" excuses are a convenient deflection. Such group talk is, in fact, a significant contributor to how things like rape culture and racism are perpetuated institutionally. And let's not forget, this was the Young Republicans, an actual arm of the GOP -- not some private collegiate "shock jock" chat group.
The fact that you feel compelled to make excuses for it, even suggesting this behavior has being magically normalized and/or is somehow OK because they're being ironic due to being (probably accurately) called white supremacists is, IMHO, a poor judgment on your part.

Which is to say, a western country whose politics are more in line with yours, which makes this a roundabout way of telling me you disagree with my politics, which I already knew. In another sense this statement is not even wrong, since left and right tend to define themselves around specific issues (which change; the American Right used to be interventionist and pro-free-trade) and I have no opinion on the future of Quebec, or Muslim immigration to France or the Netherlands. I am, however, a raging lefty in Uganda, due to my apathetic endorsement of gay marriage! This would be fascinating if I lived in any of those places, or ever intended to, but I don't. Would you like to hear how shocking and provocative your beliefs would be in Cambodia?

Looked up "Donald Trump rape conviction" to find out what you were talking about, discovered a civil case where he was found liable for sexual assault. Lesser offense, and lower standard of evidence for it. It doesn't particularly matter since we're all pretty sure he's a rapist, he admitted to liking sexual assault on tape, etc., etc. But Trump's only actual criminal conviction that I know of is the ridiculous thing in NY where he paid off his mistress with the wrong slush fund, which was itself a contemptible farce. It's bad enough that the one party has such a sloppy disregard for the truth without the second chucking it aside in its eagerness to go after him.
