Oh, just an hour ago it got reported that Carville has doubled down saying donors should not give money to anyone who supports Joe Biden because 72% of the population believes Biden is unfit for office.

Previously, Carville had said donations were drying up for the Biden campaign but now he has gone full hog don't donate to Biden and don't donate to any Democrat who supports him. It seems to insiders are in full civil war mode now.

Guys, seriously, Dinner or not, Biden is not fit for office, and in a way that is novel and disturbing. At the debate, Trump acted like Trump always does, ie a stupid grandstanding jackass and bully, but appeared basically functional in the sense of being able to use a urinal without having someone else guide him there, unzip his trousers, and hold his dangly parts for him. Biden failed even that basic test. You can argue that we're better off having whoever's been minding Biden all this time continue to control the country from the shadows, rather than Trump--I'll be voting for neither--but it's foolish to pretend that debate was not a disaster, and a one-sided disaster at that. He should step down, but he apparently won't, so barring some remarkable event in the next few months it seems probable that Trump will land back in the White House.

Elok is right Biden even living to the end of another term is a coin flip, and Biden getting full blown dementia in that time frame seems almost guaranteed. I'm only going to vote for him because of Trump.

Truthfully, not enough to make any measurable difference based upon how all of Trump's primary challengers quickly got beat and dropped out. At least Republicans did have primary elections which Democrats not only didn't in most cases but even sued and made nuisance lawsuits to block any possible contenders. That was why RFK had to become an independent.

Apparently there was a second debate I didn't see or hear about? I mean, I didn't watch the whole thing, because I had very important and less-depressing twenty-year-old JRPGs to play instead. But from what I saw, live and in highlights, Trump acted like Trump and Biden acted like his campaign staff were running his corpse via remote control and had neglected to replace the batteries recently. Yes, Trump tells careless, stupid lies. He told careless, stupid lies in 2016 too; I remember the debate where he claimed Hillary had been fighting ISIS for half her life and Hillary snickered because he'd just implied she was somewhere under ten years old. If there's been a decline--and there probably has--it's relatively subtle.

I'm just worried that if the Democratic leaders manage to push Joe out of the race that they'll inevitably pick the worst possible replacement. Kamala is bad, but would anybody really be surprised if they picked Hillary Clinton or Gavin Newsom? The three most nationally unelectable candidates seem like the three most likely replacements.
