Ukraine's future, and reality, in this case...

you can't generally have cognitive dissonance involving totally unsettled future events and the special military operation has constantly stymied well qualified and knowledgeable prognosticators. Ukraine could still spectacularly "win" the conflict and Russia could still spectacularly "lose" it. For example, just 3 days ago Saudi Arabia announced plans to massively increase oil output in December which would be disastrous for Russia and Russia's "ally" Iran economically while a welcome stimulus for almost all of Ukraine's allies.

Russian opposition outlet Verstka reported on October 9 that a source in an unspecified Russian Airborne (VDV) unit operating in the Kherson direction stated that 40 percent of the unit's contract recruits and mobilized personnel are over 50 years old and that over 75 percent of new personnel are over 50 years old.
