imagine if the US really tried against Russia first, this would have been over last year. second, the world would now know Russia was no nuclear power. at least a real one nuclear power. third, China would never speak of Tawain again.

It is entirely possible Russia could win in a long drawn out war of attrition but that would also bring Russia down hard. Russia only had 8 million young men between 18-30 before the war and now a million have fled, 200,000 are KIA, and probably twice that number WIA. All in a single year. If thos keeps up 5-10 years Russia will have, at best, a pyrrhic victory. Also, Russia's government is rapidly running out of the cash it had saved to cushion the war and international lending markets are closed to it. There will have to be big cuts and probably some money printing with all the inflation problems that brings.

We shall see.
