    • Well, if a Ruzzian propaganda outlet sez it, it must be true

      • Russia is taking Ukrainian children. Their mothers are travelling into enemy territory to save them.

It seems like some parents didn't get the memo that the Russians were abducting children for their own safety.

        • "The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russia's president in March, accusing him and his children's ombudswoman, Maria Lvova-Belova, of the unlawful deportation of Ukrainian children.

Russia insists that its motives are purely humanitarian, evacuating children to protect them from danger. Senior officials scorn the ICC indictment, even threatening retaliatory arrests against its representatives.

The ICC hasn't made the details of its case public and nor has Ukraine"

Details, details... Lets look at a couple:

"As September approached, the occupying administration began insisting that all children return to school, now with the Russian curriculum. There was the same push in all occupied areas, often using teachers from Russia to replace those locals who refused to collaborate."

And we know what happens to collaborators.

"Tetyana was reluctant to send Sasha back, but the teenager was bored stiff after seven months in their village, so on 3 September she dropped him off in Kupyansk.

Days later, Ukrainian forces launched their lightning operation to re-take the region.

"We heard the noise from miles away. The booms. Then the helicopters and the firing. It was a terrible din. Then I saw the tanks and the Ukrainian flag," Tetyana remembers of the counter-offensive.

Unable to contact her son, she was frantic.

"When we reached the school only the caretaker was left. He said the kids had been taken and no-one knew where," Tetyana says."

So Ukrainian forces attacked and Russian soldiers evacuated the special needs kids.

You can't possibly be that naive. Tens of thousands of kids removed, many deep across borders, and your response is to be impressed by the Russian spin on exactly one example -- and a poor spin at that. "Yeah, we took those kids, but trust me, our motives were noble" is not exactly a strong defense for kidnapping.

        • And Russia continues to bomb/missile Ukrainian cities... they are real humanitarians.

          • Hey Berz. Do only Ukraine armed forces ever "attack" or do Russia forces sometimes "attack" too?

By "attack" of course you mean send Nazis in to exterminate Donbas untermensch right?

I'm sure the appropriate response of any occupation force which had been forcing school attendance on local families is to herd to students onto busses, bus them to Russia, put them up for adoption in Russia, never contact the parents that the occupying Russians had originally contacted extensively to enforce the school attendance, and to snowjob the parents if they actually manage to initiate contact to try to reunite their families.

The article said Ukraine launched an attack to retake the area and the kids were evacuated by Russian soldiers.

Sure, but robbing children from secure places is a criminal act which they are accused for.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Evacuating children from an approaching attack is not a war crime, I dont see the humanity of leaving them there to die or face conscription. Children in cages, really?

Azov has been attacking the area since 2014, but Russia controlled it at the time of the article so they had a moral duty to evacuate people if possible. Parents fear Azov more than Russia, if they appear to approve or permit their kids staying in Russia they risk the collaborator label. How do you think the parents of these special needs kids would react to the Russian soldiers who risked their lives to evacuate them?
