          Most long haul truckers in Canada now are immigrant POC... with the majority from south Asia (usually Sikh). As has already been pointed out the protesters are overwhelmingly white, and most are not truckers.

                There seem to be a very considerable number of protesters, rather more than a few far right types. And the Prime Minister of Canada "has been evacuated to a secure location". That sounds big.

                There were a several thousand in Ottawa out of a population of 38 million. Keep in mind, these people came from across the country - It was not a sudden or spontaneous event. So yeah, the far right types and then add in all the "useful idiots" who get sucked into these things and that explains the crowd size.

              I just spotted a picture of a Confederate flag on a ute on a Canadian tweet.
              Here in Australia a Confederate flag means bikie gang. (I daresay a lot/most of Australians would not know it has any connection with the Confederate States of America or slavery or white supremacists)
              Does the Confederate flag mean bikie or white supremacist in Canada?

                Bikers will also wear/display it for the "rebel" connotation but it has pretty much the same connotation here as some parts of the US.

                There are some people trying to start a "convoy to Canberra" here in Australia to emulate the Canadian convoy.

                I have no idea whether it will get much support as it seems to still be a new thing.

                  I have decided that Trudeau should do a walk about, and talk, in person - face to face - with as many of these protesters as possible.
                  In completely unrelated news, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said today he has tested positive for COVID-19 and, so far, he's feeling "fine."

                Last night, at his rally in Conroe, TX, Trump came right and admitted he was trying to destroy our democracy.

                After more than a year of insisting he just wanted to address the problem of voter fraud, and falsely claiming the election was stolen from him, Trump just came right out and said he wanted to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Oh, and he also dog-whistled the race card vs. 3 prosecutors who are investigating him and openly suggested massive protests if he is indicted.

                The fact that Donald was on a teleprompter tells us this was planned, and the fact that it was on Sunday suggests he is expecting some bad news this week.

                  That's the thing about conmen - Those who see the con can't "unsee" it. It is front and centre.

                  Those that don't see the con have a hard time admitting they were conned after finally realising the truth. No one wants to admit they were conned.

                  I daresay that support for democracy, and democratic process, itself has been in a gradual decline over the past few decades. I am thinking that may help to explain why Trump can claim the "election was stolen" without his supporters telling him to stop smoking good weed?
