Nazi symbolism literally takes the stage at CPAC. Not even trying to hide it.

Look at the physical shape of the stage. This is not a coincidence. Beyond disgusting.

You are so deep into denial that you don't even consider the obvious, ongoing and growing influence of fascists, white nationalists, neo-nazis, and other self-styled "western chauvinists" into the GOP mainstream. Some would say that makes you complicit.

First, the spending is one-time to alleviate suffering due to COVID. It isn't part of standard spending and can easily be payed for by making sure that we hit our inflation targets.
Looking at the numbers Federal debt is 27T. The problem isn't the one time spending. The problem is the one-time spending on top of the structural deficit. If the bills at 20T couldn't be paid, why would the bills be paid at 27T?

Second, it is obvious that we have no need to be concerned about our debt which is average among nations. The last 40 years have proven this to us, and our inflation rate the lasts decade or sos has been much lower than it should be.
I'm actually not concerned about inflation. I'm concerned about debt deflation. We've been in a deflationary environment since boomers started retiring due to the shape of the age cohorts. Older people tend to spend less than younger people. This may seem like a small thing, but small things added together makes a big thing.

With the borrowing as high as it is, we'll start to see deflationary effects due to the debt repayments.

there has been a lot of costs to States, Cities and so on due to COVID and they need help.
Yes, but bailing out cities and states at the cost of other cities and states is just going to reinforce that Uncle Sam is going to be there should they ever get themselves into trouble. Not a great mentality when the money train finally stops.

Basically the US is at a crossroads. Open up and start working on the 40 year project to pay down the debt incurred, or continue on the path to insolvency. 1.5T doesn't help the case for fiscal restraint.

              CPAC organizer's reaction:
Stage design conspiracies are outrageous and slanderous. We have a long standing commitment to the Jewish community. Cancel culture extremists must address antisemitism within their own ranks. CPAC proudly stands with our Jewish allies, including those speaking from this stage.

Seriously, they didn't even deny it's a Nazi symbol. They didn't make a quick change to the stage (which would be easy) to eliminate it. No, they decided to play the victim card instead, so that all their white supremacist followers would know it was deliberate and embraced by CPAC and Trump's GOP.

They also had a bunch of large wooden lower case letter 't's (for 'truth' & 'tolerance') which, to give them more prominence, they set aflame.

I suppose the Libtard media can come up with some BS about how that was racist or fascist!

Republican presidents drive up the deficit and often end in disaster. Democratic presidents generally have a high spending year or two fixing things and then drive down the deficit.

Generally being the last 30 years (Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump). We will see if Biden drives down the deficit in 2022... but this is 2021. Obama had to spend to get the US out of the disaster that happened at the end of the watch of Bush. So Biden has to spend to get the US out of the disaster that happened at the end of the watch of Trump.

I agree that it is better to not drive up the deficit when there is no disaster. But take that up with Bush and Trump, not Obama or Clinton... or Biden (yet).

              JM
(I don't remember if there was a disaster at the end of the watch of the first Bush. I do know that the deficit decreased under both Clinton and Obama.)

              • We could go back even further, I remember the '88 election between Dukakis and Bush. Dukakis wanted to use the growing S&L scandal under Reagan against Bush but his own party told him to keep that quiet because their fingerprints were all over the crime too.

                • I am not sure who my parents supported in 1992, but I do remember that election.

I do not remember the 1988 election.

I view Bush Sr as a (better than) average president in the modern era (that started with Truman).

I am suspicious that Trump is going to be a dividing line like FDR/Truman. Maybe it will be Biden.

                  • Qanon are a tiny fringe conspiracy group who 99% of the people ignore or laugh at because they spout nonsense conspiracy theories based on nonsense. It is pretty telling when left wing nutty conspiracy theorists, who are effectively the same as qanon, come up though so many people in the left embrace it instead of calling it out. Case in point the stupid and laughable secret nazi stage conspiracy. Call those raving lunatica out because they lost their God damned minds.

                    • Well, we all know QAnon, the Proud Boys and all Trump supporters are amazingly stupid, but who here, except maybe Kidiot & Dinner, knew Antifa was so clever as to completely fool the FBI & CIA?
FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday sought to beat back right-wing conspiracy theories suggesting that fake supporters of former U.S. president Donald Trump stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, denying their existence in the agency's investigation so far.
