Banks and insurance companies are criminal cabals anyway. They should be burnt to the ground.

I'm not justifying anything, your accusation would mean I was also justifying the Floyd riots too and I would never do that. The only comparison I made was between 2 groups of people vandalizing govt property, many BLM/Antifa riots went far beyond Jan 6 with the destruction of neighborhood businesses and services locals depend on. If you want a comparison, the MAGA rioters would have to run around Wash DC destroying the economic and tax bases of already poor neighborhoods.Trying to justify January 6th's confirmed attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election results by comparing that with the George Floyd protests is simply pathetic.
If you think Jan 6 was worse, lets ask the black lives who lost jobs because Walgreens and Walmart just to name a couple are gone. Lets ask the old timers who needed those stores to get their food and medication. Jan 6 was a blip on the radar, last years riots ruined innumerable lives, black lives... BLM ghettos. If we want businesses to go back in the local taxpayers will have to underwrite the risk because I cant imagine banks and insurance companies doing it.

Do you have an estimate of the total property damage caused by the 2000 highly destructive rioters?

I agree the Jan 6th riot was a big deal. It was a big deal because law enforcement failed to stop a couple hundred idiot rioters even though thousands upon thousands of protesters were entirely peaceful. That was not remotely an "insurrection" nor was there ever any remote possibility of the government getting over thrown by a few unarmed fools. Frankly, we need stronger laws against rioters as we have had over 2000 highly destructive rioters, all but one by left wing militants, and we need a better law enforcement response to that.
But the hyper partisans will keep spinning their fairy tales and ignoring reality just like they always do.

or vandalizing the capitol buildingOriginally posted by Jon Miller View PostAn insurrection tries to seize power, by attacking the point of power. How could a riot in Minneapolis or Seattle or Portland ever become an insurrection? The closest any of them come to being focused at the seat of power is the seat of local power near Minneapolis (Saint Paul).
The whole comparison of the BLM protests, the Ferguson riots, or the Rodney King riots to the January 6 insurrection is sheer lunacy. The key difference is what was being attacked. There is no way power is seized by an attack on businesses or even state courthouses.

Does 8 months sound about right for a convicted insurrectionist?Originally posted by -Jrabbit View PostNormally I would ignore that comment, in keeping with Ming's OP desire:
But I'll make an exception for this bullsh1t.
Jan. 6 in DC was totally an insurrection, Berz. We watched it on live TV. Listened and watched the build-up for a solid month. There was nothing grass-roots about it.
It may not have been well organized. It may have failed to overturn the election. But it was definitely an insurrection.
You forgot 'seize power', kinda matters when accusing people of insurrection. Otherwise last summer's riots were actually insurrections...Apparently Oerdin's contention is that if you get enough sheeple to hang out in the area without guns, it's OK to invade the US Capitol. You can attack its police (because blue lives matter!), trash its contents, raise a gallows, call for the deaths of Pence and Pelosi, break into offices, steal and damage federal property, and send the US Congress scrambling into hiding in fear for their lives, preventing them from executing their legal duties. Oh, and can smear your feces on the walls while you're at it. Apparently, it's a just a percentage thing.
