        No doubt that Obama launched Operation Inherent Resolve. Most of the activity of that operation under his Presidency took place in 2016 and was highly effective as an air campaign. It was not effective in dislodging ISIS from territory. The liberation of Territory was primarily under Trump's administration. To say that Obama defeated ISIS is just not correct. He did, however, start the process. IMO, the increased focus on ground operations under Trump was a better definition of defeating ISIS, but credit where credit is due...it was the Obama Administration that layed the original groundwork.

          Yes. I give Trump credit for not ending the campaign prematurely. And I'll give his administration credit for adjusting the strategy as necessary.

          ​​​​​​I do give Obama the bulk of the credit however since it was his policy.

          And try to be more reasonable.. saying "he started the process" is a huge understatement. Starting the process is 99% of the work

            google Timber Sycamore... that was the CIA's effort to arm terrorists in Syria. When the US Ambassador was killed in the attack on Benghazi he was there coordinating weapons shipments to Turkey (and Ukraine?) from Gaddafi's stockpiles.

            Trump ended the policy and let Putin clean up ISIS and Mattis resigned when Trump tried to leave Syria. I've seen a timelapse video of the spread of ISIS in Syria, it coincided with our shipments. They took about half the country and we called them moderate rebels, that is why Europe was flooded with millions of refugees.

              Syria focused all it's efforts against the moderate rebels, ignoring ISIS, literally, when ISIS would about to attack the moderate rebels, the Syrian Air Force would bomb the crap out of the moderate rebels, allowing ISIS to stomp them.

              The moderate rebels were a fiction Obama created when people found out we were arming terrorists. But the war had different theaters, we were helping ISIS take govt controlled land while attacking ISIS in the east in support of the Iraqis and Kurds. Our goal was toppling Assad and ISIS was our army.

            Interesting how a little story about federal troops in Portland immediately sets folks off on a laundry list of Whatabout Obama topics. Hey, what about being outraged that US citizens were being dragged into unmarked vans, by unmarked US troops, and detained without due process or Miranda rights, on American soil?

            Maybe it's just me, but I think that was some totally un-American bullshlt. Which was my only point in posting an article about something that happened in 2020. But hey, thanks all, for taking it all back to unrelated topics from 2 administrations ago.

                        Anyone who claims "troops" were sent is at the very least a hyper partisan. We are talking about the Federal Police whose job it is to protect Federal Courthouses. All they did was their specific job as law enforcement and, no, they are not military and so not troops.

                        It seems hyper partisans just aren't concerned with facts sometimes though.

                          Whether "troops" or "federal police" is actually unclear, as many did not wear any identifying insignia.

                          My concern was with the documented borderline-kidnapping of US citizens into unmarked vans without due process.

                          The market is really down this year and will likely get worse next year as the recession worsens. If he was dependent upon day trading then he will have trouble even if he tries to short stocks. I bonds are probably one of the safest good bets out there right now which is why I bought $20,000 worth of them last month (the max is $10,000 with any social security number so I got $10,000 for me and $10,000 for my wife). That takes five years to cash out without penalty though.

                          Hopefully, he did just get a job as that is likely the most productive thing right now.
