I don't know anything about web development, but if there's any scripting or scraping that needs to be done, I can probably manage it.

Happy to hear that - this is a fairly powerful server and hopefully somewhat well-configured, so the site should feel appropriately responsive. So I'll whine here if I want some volunteer donations towards hosting costs

Aeson, one more thing - did you have some kind of script or setting that forwarded the old forumdisplay.php links to the correct forum? Such links are broken now, but I'm pretty sure they worked before the move.

There's plenty of files that are now inaccessible due to the various forum upgrades. But the files are mostly intact, it seems, I saw some really old ones in the data.

I've posted at Poly previously about the backups here and here.. but it's probably easier if you use the link below so you can see the whole folder structure (warning it's slow):

              https://web.archive.org/web/20140903...ocal_links.php

The 2014/09/03 backup is the newest one with working downloads. Newer Webarchive backups don't seem to work so presumably that was around the time where things started going wrong here at Poly?

I haven't tested all sections but I'm pretty sure all downloads are backed up and working in the Civ1, Colonization and Call to Power 1 & 2 sections. Most of the Civ2 downloads work however I think some failed. I definitely had mixed results with the Civ 3 downloads. Haven't tested Civ 4 or 5 or other games downloads but as they are bigger files I'd expect mixed results there too as presumably Webarchives backup algorithms have certain "don't automatically backup files past 'this' size unless manually ordered to" rules in them. You can navigate the download folders into each game and subcatagory to download mods, maps and graphics etc. All the fan tales/stories/memories appeared to be backed up under each game folder too.

I hadn’t done anything in that regard. If they were working before it would have been handled through vb

has anything changed on the security front during the move and update? For some reason last night when I posted a thread in the colonization forum it turned green and says "Unapproved" and has been stuck in that mode ever since. This has never happened to me before. It does have a bunch of offsite links in it due to all the different old 'Colonization like games' I talk about in the post so maybe that triggered it although I've done it before without issue. Either way presumably its stuck in some waiting area for admins to look at?

Aeson implemented some anti-spam measures awhile back (iirc) which do occasionally put some posts into a moderation queue. My guess is, yeah, it's all the links in this case. I've gone ahead and approved the thread.

I now got the "Your post was flagged by the system as potential spam. It will not be visible until it has been approved by a moderator."" thing too

Just sayin' - most of my post are spam, so there's not much need for a specific marker here

edit: well, for now I blame the deep state

I thought I saw links to the OT at the bottom of threads the other day. Today, they are gone again. Did someone make a change?
