However unlikely you may believe it to be, it is possible that that the shooter just wanted children, or just wanted a body count and knew it was an unarmed gathering with no police presence. So yes, other explanations are possible.

Insanity and a personal grudge against his in-laws. Remember one of the people he murdered was his sister in-law. His in-laws went to that church, he knew that, and that was his motive. Law Enforcement already has repeatedly said religion was not the motivation but a domestic dispute was.

The usual suspects should learn to shut the #:!$ up after they have been proven wrong by the facts.
