  • And the tarring and feathering by Trump against him will begin.

    From the Guardian
McConnell predicts Trump would be acquitted in impeachment trial

Republican Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell appears to have bulldozed directly through protocol by forecasting, before the articles of impeachment have even been drafted in the House and Trump put on trial in the Senate, that the president will be acquitted.
Any hope that any republican in the senate will even be listening to anything involved with this should be laughed at
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

This will be refreshing. Usually "show trials" have predetermined a guilty verdict.

It is going to backfire badly on Dems. Trump is prema facie guilty, his guilt is obvious as is that this is definitely an impeachable act. That said not a single Republican Senator would ever put country over party so this is doomed to fail after which Trump will claim complete vindication, get a bump in the polls, and probably even win re-election.

  • Amy Robach of ABC News was caught on video saying her network spiked a story about Jeffrey Epstein to protect powerful people. She also said Epstein was murdered and the reason was he blackmailed people who wanted him dead before he could talk.

          • Just cuz I know Kid's watchin', I thought I'd post a couple paragraphs from this article in The Guardian, basically disproving the Trump/Giuliani Ukraine theory with some obvious and public facts:

According to the conspiracy theories, Crowdstrike has a Ukrainian base, and its founder Dmitri Alperovitch is a Ukrainian who set up Putin in revenge for invading his homeland. But Alperovitch, in real life, is of Russian extraction and is a US citizen whose family came to America in the Soviet era. Crowdstrike is based not in Kiev, but California.

Every aspect of the Crowdstrike conspiracy tale has been disproved. But this has not stopped Trump from demanding that Zelensky looks into it, albeit in a somewhat incoherent manner, in the now infamous 25 July call to the Ukrainian president.

You didn’t used to be a conspiracy theorist. That nonsense has all been thoroughly disproven.

                  • The Astros are being accused of cheating, former pitcher Mike Fiers said they had a camera set up in the outfield focused on the catcher. People in the dugout watched the video and banged a garbage can to signal the hitter what pitch was coming. They did this while winning the 2017 World Series.

It did not work this time, and I doubt they will overturn the 2017 results.

                  • Trade wars and Trump using our tax money to bail out the farmers he screwed...

President Trump has his own bailout, sending extra federal subsidies to farmers hurt by his trade war with China. The $28 billion and counting isn't fully offsetting the loss of Chinese purchases and markets for U.S. soybeans, pork, and other agricultural products, but it is still relatively generous, as Bloomberg Businessweek notes:

China hawks in Trump's administration want Beijing to quit subsidizing strategic industries, yet that hasn't deterred the White House from doling out billions in aid to American farmers, who have become more dependent on government money than they've been in years. At $28 billion so far, the farm rescue is more than twice as expensive as the 2009 bailout of Detroit's Big Three automakers, which cost taxpayers $12 billion. And farmers expect the money to keep flowing. [Bloomberg Businessweek]

Agriculture was actually one of the few sectors of the American economy that consistently ran a surplus with China, and Trump's tariffs are mostly supposed to be for the long-term benefit of the tech and manufacturing sectors.
What's really sad is, if the trade war with China ended tomorrow, there's no reason for China to go back to buying from US sources. Oh, and most people don't know that Trump's bailout does not apply to all crops.

Info is a couple months old but still valid.

                    • The 2009 auto bail out cost $12 billion up front but taxpayers made $15 billion for a net $3 billion in profit. To compare Trump’s $28 billion give away is completely money down the drain.

                      • Plus, Trump's giveaway is ongoing and growing, averaging $14billion/year.

And all Americans get to share in the higher cost of pork, soybeans, etc. while China laughs in his face.
