Was reading about the "Great Repeal Bill" and found it kinda amusing. UK media reactions go from "first step to take back control" over "it's the biggest cut and paste job evar" (because it takes a lot of EU law and turns it into UK law) to "what's the point of leaving the EU when many of its regulations are taken over afterwards".

(That being said it makes sense to do so - esp. in the range of safety or environmental standards, and certain rights - and there will certainly also changes, but if the EU would be the evil empire that some seem to think I'd hope for way more heroic resistance....)

It is kind of necessary though, thankfully, it can now be modified and parts of it will be.

UK economic growth projected to be 0.5% - 1.0% less than if it remained in the EU. Clearly a small price to pay for getting rid of all those non-white people.

Obviously he meant the british politician who threatened that the UK could go to war over Gibraltar.
You wouldn't want a politician who stays true to his words in this case

Somehow I don't think that as long as the EU is in charge a lot of action will take place.

I mean both Britain and Spain. I don't understand why there was a need to hint that Britain may go to war about this if needed - that's not going to happen anyway (which for the time being is the most reasonable assumption) unless Spain is trying to pull a Putin about it (which is not going to happen anyway either unless ppl in charge are losing their minds).

Otoh I don't see what kind of a case Spain would have on getting back Gibraltar when there's a treaty about it (albeit from the 1700s, but it *is* a treaty) and last ref was (IIRC) over 90 % for Britain.

And if not, the UK will launch surprise naval assault on Madrid.

Government Official:If Spain does not withdraw from Gibraltar. The Royal Navy will begin a surprise assault against Madrid.
Reporter:How is the Royal Navy going to attack Madrid? It's in-land.
                            Government Official:That's the Surprise.

IIRC the British Navy uses our missiles in it's submarines. They have a range of 6000+ miles. Hitting Madrid would be simple.

I honestly don't see that claim holding water. First of all around 70%-80% of the immigration is from "white" countries, s cond of all their main complaint is about welfare and access to limited resources such as council houses/public housing, a distant third is national control of immigration numbers.

I suspect you will find they keep the door open to immigration, but skew towards the educated and employable while cutting off welfare and access to public housing until newcomers have paid into the system. That gets rid of the welfare migrants and eases the resources competition between the native poor and the eastern European welfare scroungers. They have no problem with those who work and pay their on way plus British industry needs them thus you will see an improvement in employable immigrants and a tailing off of Romanians who don't really want jobs but who are arriving for more freebies.

Second there will be some temporary problems with the implication of WTO rules especially until next trade deals are put into place but those will be temporary. Plus the UK will only face, at worst assuming the EU is most punitive, 2.5%, which can be made up with tax cuts and deregulation which is over all a good thing. Next the UK is sitting on a relatively large amount of potential for mining, oil, gas, development/construction, and business which is currently constrained by EU regulations. They can and will get leaner and meaner becoming more competitive.

If this spurs them to increase competitiveness then they can easily make up the 0.5% difference.
