I guess the answer is that you don't realize just how racist it sounds. They're are going to be a lot of republicans that distance themselves from that comment. But I'll be patient and let my fellow republicans try to tell you the same.

One account I read said we sold the 52 jets and that was his confusion, but he still comes off as our clown boy.
The Chicago tribune had an article saying He's claiming he didn't use the term ****hole. I would say, who does he think he's fooling but there will be plenty that believe him.
I was surprised that more Republicans haven't come out against those comments. The only one I saw was a rep from Utah whose parents came from that ****hole.

I am not surprised anymore ... the last year has proven that the republicans in the current government are opportunistic beyond all expectations.
Just look at their handling of the tax reform or the Moore affair.

So a couple of things US media isn't talking about Trump's cognitive test -
1) very relevant, it measures cognitive decline, not sanity or judgement, and
2) largely irrelevant, but Canadian media has jumped on the fact that the test was created by a Canadian neurologist, who immigrated to Canada as a child from Lebanon.

The quote I saw in the morning news "who predicted Trump would remain healthy for the duration of his presidency despite a diet heavy on fast food".
Ok now, a show of hands. If you ate as much fast food as Trump is said to eat, would your doctor say you would remain healthy? Mine certainly wouldn't.
